I've recently gotten my hands on a 94 Integra that has been flipped. (Only 700 dollars). I finally got a car a little younger than I am. But my question that the guy doesnt know if its a GS-R or not. Its a 5 speed with a b18 in it and, it needs a little work done to it. But I cant order parts until i find out its a normal integra or a GS-R. Can anyone help me out there?

I suppose the most fool proof method would be to get the VIN and run a report on carfax or something

i'm assuming you checked if its vtec or not? cuz you didnt specify which b18, just checkin

A couple ways, the biggest giveaway is the engine, it should say vtec right on it (on valve cover) if it's a gsr.
Also, a base engine redlines at 6900 (if I remember correctly)
if it's any higher, it's a GSR- look at the tach.
I think all GSR's have an upper strut tie bar.
GSR's are fully loaded - moonroof, leather, cruise control, air cond, power everything.
I doubt the guy doesn't know. He's probably playing dumb and is hiding something. I don't know why he'd hide things from you if he admitted the car was rolled. Maybe the damage was far worse than he is leading you to believe.
Did you do a carfax report? That car could very well have a salvage title.
And it will also verify the trim.
But even if he were a dealer, or a private sale, there's no way he's dumb enough not to know if it's a gsr or not. That's a common bullshit tactic - trust me, i've heard of so many instances where a dealer claims to not know wether it's a gsr or not. Hoping you'll fall for it and pay for a higher trim when it's really a base model.
Put it this way, if he claims he doesn't know what trim it is, AUTOMATICALLY assume he is BS-ing and trying to rip you off.

Did you look under the hood? Does it say VTEC and have the B18C1 label?

Dude, if I'm not mistaken, some GSR's until 97 didn't have leather interior, there were some with it and some without it. It wasn't until 98 that GSR's came with leather interior no matter what.
Dude, just check the tach if it starts red at 7900 or 8000 then it's a GSR, if it starts at 6900 then it's a GS/LS.

yeah, just for reference, my 96 GS-R redlines at 8000, no leather seats, it has a moon roof, ABS, cruise control, etc.. the valve cover on the engine should say DOHC VTEC (this is the b18c1 motor)

if the VIN starts with JH4DC2 then it's a GS-R.

There are GSR's without leather arent there?? Pretty sure.
Kinda funny that the engine has the B18C1 stamp on it but the valve cover doesnt have any vtec markings. Its a black valve cover, right?
I personally would drop the cash just for the drivetrain (if it is a B18C1) and find a Civic HB to put it in.

I fit says b18c1 on the engine, but the valve cover doesn't say VTEC, i'd be even more concerned.
That's further evidence that it was probably salvaged and contains parts from several different cars.
Don't even think about making a decision without doing a carfax report first. No matter what documentation is provided, do not accept it, unless it's a "carfax report".
Trust me, this car spells trouble.
