b20z vtec

I was offered a b20z vtec 1999 with 15000miles for $2300 installed. Is it worth it to drop into a 97 Civic Hatch? and can you guys give me some specs on this engine. Thanks!

thas a good price, anywhere you look b16 is about that much, but w/o shipping or install. how much w/o install? That might be a really good deal, because you will have all the parts it will be just a bolt in project.

The guy isn't charging me that much for the install. About $400. See i was just thinking, why don't i just drop in a b16a2 or 3 instead. We're talking 160hp@7600/111lb-ft@7000 compared to a 146hp@6200/133lb-ft@4500 with the b20z. I'm just not sure. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Sure is.

b20 gets lots of torque, and if you add vtec head, you get better HP #s too.

dude, a B20 with a vtec head, installed, all for only 2,300. thats a heck of a deal. yea, your specs on that are way off. it should have more than the B16 easily. i say do it.

Well i haven't seen the engine yet and all i have from him is an email saying do you want a 1999 b20z vtec engine for $3500 Canadian installed. I'm figuring its a CRV engine yet i'm waiting for his response back. Thanks guys.

I say go with the b16, you can be sure of that. that crvtec and the frankhenstein are mistakes. they are not supposed to be revved high thats why the stroke is longer on the ls engine. Same with the crv its not good you cant depend on it. If you have money to fix stuff like that then go right ahead. but if you want somethnig dependable get the b`16. my boyz ls/vtec went sour last month @ the track. Not to say all arent dependable but if you read why its not a good idea you will know what I am saying. the easiest way to discribe it is if it was such a good idea honda would have done it. good luck in whatever you do though man... let me know whats gonna happen.

if you plan on modifying your car, i saw go w/ the b20/vtec because you ca build up your car.....i agree w/ skiesthelimit to an extent. only if you plan on keeping the stock components......if you use aftermarket shit.....the b20/vtec is in my opinions, one of the most powerful n/a motors out there......i saw go for what you plan on doing in the future....a lot of daily driving, i might go w/ the b16.....but if you want some serious power, go w/ the b20/vtec, but spend some extra $$$ and build up internals and shit before you drop it in....
