Speakers For Me

I have a pickup with a small cab so i don't have much room to work with. I have a box on the floor in the back seat with two 6x9's that are hooked up to an amp that puts out more power then i'm using. I was wondering if any one could suggest a speaker that i could put in the back speaker openings. There were 6x8's in there stock but I know and i want to put a pair of 6.5's or 6's or something liek that in there. The amp that i have is putting 180 watts per chanel at 4 ohms and 230 at 2. The 6x9's pull 90 per speaker so i'd liek something that pulled around 90 so i wouldn't have to run another amp i cluld just run 4 speaks on one amp. I'm open to any brands models under or around 75$. Also help on where to find the speakers would be appreciated.

the type-r's are decent speakers, I would take the cdt cl-61a before them though

Yeah, either the Alpines or go for some RE components... Depends on your budget. I need to get an amp on my CDTs to see how they really sound... the tweets sound nice now that I have them balenced. :)

you will find that good components need a fair amount of power, min of 50 watts/ch RMS ..... 75-100 would be better.

How Much and wher can i find some of thoes cdt Components. I have enough power to power a speaker up to 90 rms. The alpin typr-r's that i was looking at were 134.99 so if the cdt are very cloes to that i'd most likely get them, I've heard their good.

Well the only thing is i don't know any thing about the cdt comps are they really that much better the alpine. I know i'll like the alpine cause my friend has a pair like them. If i can get tehm for the same prive I won't mind either proll the cdt if they are better.

You'll have to email Don ([email protected]) or find him on AIM. He'll give you some quotes on what he has at the moment. If he has some, he'll tell you the price.

awesome... good choice Bob. My 5.25" have reasonable mid bass just off deck power, which is kinda amazing. Get an amp on it, and you'll be really happy :)

slightly related question... why does CDT make their woofers with the silver bullet center pole exposed? Doesn't that decrease the cone area as much as a coaxial would?

I'm amping them i just wondering if they are gonna have really responsive, not necessarily loud but good bass? Also is the rms per speaker or per set?

Each will take around 100 rms I think. If you build a largish enclosure for them (.3 cubic feet each), the bass is increadible, according to several people here. You had your audiobauns in a box, right? You can probably build a pair of boxes for about 20 bucks. 1/2" MDF and some wood glue is all that's necessary.

Yeah i have my audiobahns in a box. I built it my self and yeah i prolly will build one my self. Does the type of wood really matter? I built the box for my audiobahns out of 3/4" oak plywood its heavy as hell but it doesn't seem any different then any thing elese.
