95' EGR valve

Hi
I have a 95 Blazer 4.3 with the liner EGR valve. The check engine light came on and gave code 32 – EGR circuit. The valve does not have more than 70K on it, but it started running real bad.
I once read something about a GM update that have the later models programmed to occasionally fully cycle open the EGR valve to help blow out the carbon.
Can this be applied to the 95’ and if not is there a way to manually cycle the valve with a jumper or some other way.
The reason I ask about the manual cycle is that I took it to the dealer to have it scanned (Auto Zone said it was too old to scan, but I do have the 16 pin connector under the dash and the computer is inside)
45 minutes later the service advisor returned the vehicle along with a $440.00 estimate, but it was running perfect again and the light has not come back on since. Do you think there is a way to cycle the valve like the newer models?
Also I was told that an aftermarket valve would fail prematurely. What would you suggest??
Thank you for your time and help.

The programming update was to cycle the EGR valve during decel to break up the carbon chunks. Do you have the computer under the dash or on the RF wheel well? There is a bulletin for replacing the PROM in the under dash computer for this concern. I'm sure that the is a programming update for the other one also.
It's possible that at the dealer, that during checking he commanded the EGR full open and the carbon dropped out (can do that with the factory scanner). With the scanner, they can check if you have the latest program for your vehicle, or you can remove and clean the EGR valve yourself.

Thanks for the reply.
I have the 16 pin connector like the OBD II but the computer is under the dash inside so I probably have the chip. A 95’ built Oct 94
Do you think the dealer would have knowledge on the chip update or is there a site on the net where I may acquire this? A steer in the right direction would be appreciated.
I went to a dealer once with a bulletin request and they were too busy to give information.

I know you stated that with the scanner, they can check if I have the latest program for my vehicle. The reason I asked for additional help is that I explained that to them when I took it in and I got no feed back. I will go back and ask to speak with the technician himself. Maybe better results.
Thanks again for your help sir.
Have a good day, LS

According to the Service Bulletin #67-65-38A - (Jun 1, 1997):
"1995 S/T UTILITY NF2/NB6 ALL: #16239464"
This is stamped on the new PROM itself: BWAK 9445

Do you have the CPI vortec?
Also, remove the valve and clean out the carbon and reinstall with a new EGR gasket, YOU DON'T HAVE TO REPLACE THE VALVE.
Check your passenger side wheel well in the engine compartment, if you have a computer there, you have a OBDII computer and you can get it updated.
If you don't , you can't get the update.
My thanks to you all.

I would just clean and reinstall the valve.
Paying for this upgrade will really not solve anything , I have had the upgrade and I still got a carbon blockage.
