99 Suburban hesitation

My 99 Suburban hesitates when you take off. The fuel pump was replaced a few months ago and I just replaced the fuel filter. But It still acts like it can't get enough gas. Power is low and so is the fuel economy. Once you are going it seems to run fine except for the low power. When you step on it to pass it acts like it doesnt want to wind up and the tranny wont shift up until the engine gets more RPMs. It has 97,000 on it and has never had a tune up. Any suggestions

If your vehicle has 97,000 miles on it, then it is probably time to change the spark plugs.I believe that GM recommends to change platinum plugs at 100,000 miles.This is where I would start.

The answer to the one question of "why does my 99 suburban still hesitate after changeing the plugs,fuel pump and fuel filter" is... the MAF sensor was bad. No warning lights. Just power loss and really poor gas mileage as well as hesitation when power is applied. I just got my truck back from the dealer and it is fixed!! I hope this helps others. This is a great forum, thanks to all of you.

how can you tell if the MAF is bad without taking it to dealer. Is it something that can be replaced DIY and how bad is the cost of the part?
