caged xj

I have an 89 xj auto, 4.0L with low compression (30-70lbs). I want to drop in another motor, I can get either an 87 or 88 4.0L both out of a standard for $300. I was just wondering what needs to be changed, if anything, for a straight drop-in?
I have read something about the pilot bushing, mounting holes or something?
Also, is the 87 motor the same fuel injection?
Thanks

Sometimes it is easiler to rebuild it.... do a valve job and put new piston rings in it. That way you know it will fit. Don't be afraid....or just have a machine shop do it after you take it out. The cranks and bearing on these usually don' t give a problem. You can do rings and valves without taking the engine out also.
You can even trick it out with a new camshaft and a ported and polished head (intake and exhaust porting also). Maybe new headers (Bank's??). Just some thoughts.
