It looks way better then it did before it had rims and lowered. I am lowing my car sooner or later but only 2".

Your rim choice is excellent. Did you get an alignment? With a four inch drop, I'd bet your toe and camber are way off. Lookin' good.

Haha Yeah my car is in the alignment shop right now. It was cambering really bad in the front and rear. Those rims are 18" TSW Thropys. If it was my choice i would never get those rims but Scince my dad bought them why not. Lol But yeah its the rims that make it kinda look like a Ferrari in a way. I didnt noticed the Ferrari look untill me friend told me after i lowered my car. Thanks for the all the good comment!

Sounds good, maybe some nitrous? A little 50 shot would do wonders for you lol.

hellah fresh
05-13-2005, 12:53 AM
Well nitrous would be cool... but my main goal is to go all motor first! So i can get all the Guts of the car ready for that big turbo. Like that one for sale... the GT35 turbo... thats what i want! lol

ok what do u guys think about this? click here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7974788760&category=33590)
i'm thinin about lowering my rs, but don't wanna spend more than 500 bucks, (that's all i got righ now)or i was thinkin about using tokico hp, the blue ones, but i'm not sure if i can use those to lower my car, wanna use coilovers, since they are adjustable, on the summer i plan to drop it, and winter back to normal,

For your budget those shocks are your best bet, good choice. The Illuminas, I mean. If you want to mate them with E-Bay style coils, understand that the ride will be rough. A better bet would be using springs with more reasonable rates, like Eibach springs, if you don't mind that they aren't ride height adjustable. The Illuminas and Eibachs would still put you under 500.

Illuminas adjust compression and rebound. E-Bay coils adjust ride height. Depending on how far you drop your car, get a rear camber kit. Also remember to get an alignment to preserve tire life and to get the most of your upgrades.

I don't think it's changing the topic, seeing that this thread is four days old, but next time make your own thread, this is sufficiently different. Good luck, let us know what you decide :)

Wow that's 4''? I lowered mine 1.5'' and it looks nearly identical in ride height.

Holy shit that looks sick. Did you just use springs? I was thinking of lowering my car with the Pro-Kit (1.2 inch drop) but my wheels gap is like friggin 3-4 inches. I'm considering sportline springs now...

That car looks sexy. Clean. Like everyone said good choice with the rims, tumbs up to your dad since he was the one that bought them! :-D Nice car overall, looks mean with the 4" drop man. Great job.

Haha thanks for to comment! Well guys that is a 4" drop The bottom part of my fender with the top of my tires. The reason how i knew my car had lowered 4" is because i measured the gap i had before i lowered it. So as the results that is what my car looks like. Also i see alot of 2Gs' around here and i noticed even if its lowered.. they only go for 2"-3" drop and i still see a tire gap... so i had to take mine to the extreme almost LOl. I want to tuck my front end a little but more but as of the 95-96 bumper the sides of it is 3" from the ground. =\

i had my car lowered an inch and a half. Put on 18's and it raised the car up an inch. I just adjusted my coilovers to lower me back to where i was. so i'm lowered about 2.5" but raised up 1" from the wheels

well i don't know if i should go with coilovers or eibachs springs,, but i'm 200% sure that i'll be getting the shocks, i just need to decide, cause if i'm gonna a real bad ride with e-bay coilovers, i think is not worth it to use ilumina adjustable. i'd just cut my springs probably, i might be dropping it 3 ", or enough to not have the ugly wheel gap, lol anyone using e-bay coilovers? let me know how bad they ride,
thanks

It's like there are two threads going at once. Anytime this thread gets brought back, hella gets more rim props lol.

It's worth getting shocks, Illuminas are good. Their compression/rebound ratio is reflective of stock spring rates, though. That means that over time they'll take a hit with E-Bay style coils. Other, more ditsy shocks, are made the same way, only they won't stand up to the same abuse. Eibach are a much better way to go than E-Bay style stuff. Otherwise the spring rates are way out of line for any shock, your dampeners won't be able to keep up. You don't have to drop the car far to reduce wheel gap. Three inches is overkill. Half that would do the trick. Before this thread gets any more off track, PM me if you're interested in continuing the discussion, or create a new thread.

YO! i am using the ebay coilovers. I bought the Aerospeed coilover for i think $98 dollars shipped and let me tell you. When i first drive it my tire doesnt rub but it is very stiff in the begining. After about 1 week my spring started to bounce not much but it isnt as stiff. i also got 4 new shock replaced when i got the coils... So if your low on cash then Ebay is the place to go.. but i think later on im going to save up and get some eibach coilovers. I think its like $330 on ebay but scince alot of people reccomend Eibach then hey i migh give it a try. Also Skunk2 coilovers are a bit cheaper then Eibach.. $230 on ebay also. SO if i was you and have the money then go with either Eibach or Skunk2. I feel every single bump even the smallest bump on the roads when i drive.. DAMN U EBAY COILS!!!!! but ill give them another month to see if it settles.

What shocks did you get? Good call on getting new ones with the E-Bay four inch drop.

Unless you want a large drop or the adjustability of coils, I don't understand why people don't buy used Eibach Prokits.

I still dont understand the difference between coilovers and springs....can you have them at the same time or are they both springs but one is a bigger drop and adjustable?

Close enough. The coilovers we're talking about are sleeve types; springs with adjustable ride height that work with separate shocks. The idea of the sleeve coils is that they're adjustable, and allow for a big drop, or stock ride height. They're popular because they're cheap and versitle. Examples of the "good" would include Ground Control. Examples of the bad would include most of the E-Bay stuff.

Well i didn't get no Kyb or tekico (how ever you spell it) but i got some
Monroe Shocks all 4. The reason why i got that brand is because my dad owns his own auto repair shop and the company that he orders his parts from gave us those. its Monroe Shocks and its black. I dont think its the gas kind tho.
