Help identify the part from the pictures

I am not a car tech at all, could you help?

I don't know if something is MISSING there or it should be like that... It seems that something should screw in there but nothing I know. It is on the transmition case near the "speed" sensor cable. It is on the drivers side below the engine. What should go there?

Different mounting holes for different shifter linkage applications. Ex.: Column shift versus floor shift.
