Seat swap question

I am thinking of buying some leather seats to replace the cloth ones in my 98 xlt. Currently, my driver's seat is powered but the passenger one is not. The seats I am looking to buy are both powered. Does anyone know if I can splice the wires from the driver's side to the passenger's side in order to make these seats work? Any help would be appreciated

I haven't thought of this but I would offer a warning.

I would becareful splicing into anything in a car's wiring harness. You run the risk of shorting something out. When something in wiring harness is shorted it takes a long time, a lot of patience and a good DMM (Fluke) to find things. Or a lot of $$$ for a shop to trace through and/or replace wires.

I would look at the power ratings of the chair and the wires. If the lines can handle 1.5 max load of the chairs, then you *might* be okay but would watch out if you try and move the chairs simultaneously. rare but could happen and blow a fuse. Look what is also fused in that line, small dash components maybe.

You might want to also look at the first model that did this, it might give you an idea of the power needed to run to chairs and how they did it. plus the bolt patterns might not match up due to the motors.
