Ok, first off i dont know that much about cars for bare with me lol, ok , i have a 1998 jeep Cherokee sport. Now my problem is that my front passenger door speaker doesnt work. it did when you opend the door then closed it sometimes , that after awhile it just stoped.
So today i wanted to see if that speaker was bad, i took the speakers that are in the back in the roof and put one in the front and the front in the back, the back worked ( that was in the front ) so i kno all speakers are fine. My next question is what could my next problem be? bad wireing, possible raido manfunction ? fuse. im lost

Thanks - Ryan

the wires that run through the door are prone to going bad. you could run a new set of wires or splice in new wire in the broken spot. i'd prefer new wire myself. a local radio shop would probably do this for you at a pretty decent price.

ok.i was hopeing that wasnt the problem , but i'll have to take it to best buy, or have my father help me with it, it would save a few bucks. and by the way , do you know how big of speakers i could get for the jeep, 5 1/4 best fit for front and back or can i go bigger?

Thanks - Ryan

[just do it your self there is only 4 bolts that hold the speaker in and if your going to get new ones they come with wires just tap them in to your old ones :grinyes:

by all means do it on your own. Just try and find the break in the wire ......depending on how far back it is. Its generally close to the hinge point, real close.

6.5" will fit up front - you just have to redrill the mounting holes. Watch the back debt because you dont want the window hitting it when it comes down - but they will fit.

This guy is on right track...the Cherokee is known for a problem with the harness in the door being too short and having problems at the flex hose where the door opens. Best solution is to run new wires through this part of the harness . Use a better gage. Speakers only use two wires anyway, a postive and a negative; or one if you are lazy and trust the car ground for the negative.

Dont use the car ground for speaker ground! Most head units dont like that!
