Im running low 16's with mine but ive done a little work to it. Id like to get to mid 15's if I can. So far ive done plug wires, header, downpipe, high flow cat, custom exhuast, 4 inch muffler, ground kit, plugs, short ram intake, short shifter. I just ordered upper and lower engine mounts but cant put them on till the end of the year cause im sitting in Iraq right now till december. What else should I do to get my time down except new tires. Im running wal-mart tires as of know. Thanks for your help

Try a larger bored TB, motor mounts will help you, if you wish to keep the car N/A... start playing with your internals... Time to Cam your car bro! Or a nice shot of giggle juice will do nicely!

hmm.... for about 2000 USD and alot of knowledge of what you were doing and also mechanically inclined, you could have a 15 sec car. You can easily piece together a good turbo setup for that price and then some.
Ghost-CAVy

who me ?...im mechanically inclined enough to say that i would prefer to keep my car n\a for right now...and if anything im going for a SC besides...i prolly could have a 15 sec car if i replaced those damn pos tires i got on that thing lol.

Im also wanting to keep mine n/a. I know its not gonna be real fast but for a 2200 with out any poweradders it does all right. Im planning on getting a new car that has a turbo on it so im gonna keep the cavi n/a and have as much fun with it as i can.

Put your car up against an SS and see if your still talking shit!
BTW...here are the specs of the 2.2L Ecotec DOHC engin straight from chevrolet's site...
Horsepower/kW @ engine RPM 145/108.17 @ 5600 RPM
Torque (lb.-ft./N-m) @ engine RPM 155/210.15 @ 4000 RPM
If you can take that...then you can just about take a 2.4.
What mods do you have to take thet new Cobalt?

mines got a ram air intake with a custom hood scoop placed over the intake filter...high conductivity plug wires, distributor cap, performance spark plugs, aftermarket camshaft, elctronic shift kit improver for an automatic, header, catback exhuast, fuel regulator,....but anyways..i heard all this talk the eco being a sweet engine but i took one on just to check it out and this guy had a standard one and im auto and i was gone off the line...and he never peeled out either..just....slow

i can prolly take a normal Z24 but if its been modified more then just stuff like an intake then i might have trouble....haha..only till i get my internals..crank..pistons..then i start saving for the turbo kit lol

Coablt SS S/C's arent all that fast. Ive seen them run, not to impressed really. Last time i was at the track an Ion Redline was there, its best was 15.0. And just to let everyone here know, its been confirmed, THERE IS NO BREAK IN PERIOD for the 2.0 Ecotec Supercharged. The engine doesnt limit the RPMS or boost. Thats just something the dealers started to say because alot of people said the cars felt sluggish when test driving them.

I don't know. I never took it to the track when it was stock. I'm going back out to the track for the first time this year today. I want to see if I can still pull times like before. (different engine) (long story).
Since last time at the track I have added a bored TB, custom port matched intake manifold, and a stiffer lower motor mount. But I think the clutch is starting to show that I have been racing this car alot. It used to spin the tires alot more when shifting. I think it's starting to get worn out. we'll see tonight!

i have a stock 98 z24, 2.4L auto. and my best was 16.2, only thing really done to it is flowmaster exhaust ,i was planing to put a turbo kit in it, but i heard not to, because i'd lock up the motor, is that really true? or is it the Lbs your running it at? i'd rather upgrade other stuff then puting a turbo in it.

Whats so wrong with that? Ive seen a bone stock eco cavy 2dr 5sp yank out a 15.62 with a track temp of 109. The guy is a great driver and all and cut everything just right but it wasnt all driver and no car so I dont see what is so wrong about those figures at that kind of temp with a good driver behind the wheel.
Thats just me though. Ive seen worse and Ive seen better.
