Ls/vtec?????

Hello I am not as educated about motors as some of the other people on this site and that is why I am turning to you guys for help on a topic which I dont understand completely. I know how VTEC engines work but I'm not 100% sure how an LS motor works. Can someone please explain to me what an LS motor does to make it the way it is? I also want to know what engines have an LS motor. Also, i have heard that an LS/VTEC motor is some pretty powerful stuff, but is it better than a turbo LS? Also I heard that turboing a VTEC engine is a bad idea and I wanted to know why that is. Thank you for all your help.

an LS is a basic DOHC motor nothign fancy about it.
if turboing a vtec is a bad idea call my tuner hes a moron then stupid ass low 11 sec street car...
