Free Exhaust??!!!???

Ok. Today I receieved a cat-back exhaust in the mail from an aftermarket racing company. I did not even order the exhaust, and on the invoice it said it was supposed to go to someone in Miami. I AM IN MICHIGAN. Now I really need to know guys, is there any way I can keep this exhaust?? I know that the people that ordered it will get the problem fixed and get a new one sent out, because I am sure the company has insurance for things like this, but CAN I KEEP IT? They will eventually track it down and ask me probably, but what if I say that I haven't received it? Please help me out any way you could, I really need an exhaust. lol. Thanks guys.

OK HERE: The exhaust is definately for my car. It is a whole Cat-Back system. No, I did not have to sign for it. And my card is not being charged, unless they find out I have it. See, the person who ordered it had the same car and the same first name, which they probably just printed out the label and sent it because I have ordered from them before, in which case it ended up here. I am sure that the orderer will call them and fix the problem and it will be fine (thats why the companies have insurance for shit like this). Anyways, if I truly believed that the person could not fix this problem, I would definatly send it back, but I know they will not actually have to pay for the companies mistake. So, hopefully they will consider it lost in the mail or something.

I would find there info read up on there policies they might just have counted it as lost and you'd be good or they might send commie nazi ninjas after you for theft.

It is a nice exhaust. I dont really wanna say what brand for a few reasons, but they always sell on EBAY (you probably have seen them before, but keep it quiet). It is all polished stainless steel 3" cat-back.

ummm because he said he's ordered from the company before. Im assuming he has an s13. And s13 are the most common 240 so i would guess it would be for an s13. How did you not sign for it???? Its cat back in a huge box, you have to sign for certain shit. Iv had to sign for every car part iv ordered. My header was in a small box and i still had to sign for it. If your not home they take it back to headquarters.

Thats why you see a bar code on the shipping label when you guys order stuff. Thats how UPS does things anyways. Unless it is to a business, most of the time you do not have to sign for it because like I said, they SCAN it.

Also, I couldn't wait and just look at it sitting there, so I put it on to see what it sounded like. It sounds pretty bad ass with a deep throaty tone. I like it, but I just wanted to hear it on my car, now I will just take it off and wait until I hear something from the company. So far, everyone tells me that I will probably get to keep it, but I am still unsure. I will probably call a lawyer and try to find out.

i wouldnt call a freaking person. If they dont say shit, then they cant do shit. you didnt do anything illegal. You came home to something on your doorstep. Its just like when the grocery store gives you to much change back. Your luck. I would lay low-key for a while though. Just to see if they do say something lol. I definantly wouldnt of put it on yet, because if they do say something now there going to tell its been used lol. Carbon deposits. Even if they do say something, o well send it back. You cant get in trouble. Its like coming home to a bag of diamonds. Except someone would kill you to get those back lol.

I dont want to sound like a pussy, but i always go back inside to give money back if im over changed...onces there were 2 20$ bills stuck togethor, she thought she only gave me one, but i saw when i got in the car so i went back inside. What if you were that clerk and you had to tell your boss your checkstand was 20$ short of what is should have been, way akward it would suck...

hey it think that it varies by state but enything that is sent to you in the mail by mistake or not, you have the right to keep it. I might be wrong but i believe that is the law in illinois

First of all, who said that I didn't want anybody to find out?? I just did not want to leave the brand name because I did not want anybody looking into it or something like that. And second, I am not trying to be dis-honest or anything, then again, I guess it is a little. But it is not like I am pissing on the little guy because it is a huge company that just made a mistake. I would definatly not do this if it were an individual or someone not so fortunate though, but hopefully I get really lucky and get to keep it.

I didn't have to sign for my exhaust, or anything, they just put it on my porch...it's pretty easy for them to check and see where it was sent to, considering they had to give ups the addresss... so you might get a phone call or something... if it were me, i'd put it on..I doubt they're going to come hunt you down, especially if it's a big company and they ship tons of stuff out everyday.

When shipment comes into my porch they leave it there most of the time, even if i am home they just ring the doorbell to let me know hey dropped it off.
Sometimes i do sign it but not very often. But something you could do is this. Destroy the evidence. Say you never got it. Thats it. You can say that they probably stole it if it did come. Theyve stolen stuff from my house thinking it was something else and return it after theyre disappointed, lol. So you can use that in your defense.

Thats not a bad idea either, but I don't think they would let me pay them half price because it wasn't used when I got it. I am the one who used it. I took it off though anyways. I just put it on to see how it sounded, so its not like there is any carbon build up from running it for 2 minutes. Hopefully I will be able to keep it and put it back on soon. lol.

I did take it for a run though after I let my car warm up and before I took it off. I was actually able to break the tires loose when I hit 3rd, which I couldn't quite do before with my stock KA. So I am actually suprised if it made that much of a difference. I also have almost new tires, so damn.

lol you changed out exhaust for like a 15 minute test, then put stock exhaust back on. You were motivated lol. Im waaaaay to lazy to do all that work to test something like that for 15 minutes. Id end up leaving it on.

The only thing is, the company would know if its there exhaust or not. Even if there isnt a vin number. That would be like hks coming and physically seeing your hks exhaust that you said never came to your house. They would be able to tell if its new or not too. Most hks mufflers only say "HKS" right across the tip lol. So im sure they could identify regardless. Not saying that your exhaust is hks, i was just using them as an example. Vin number or not they would be able to tell by pure looks. But i doubt a company person would ever come out to look lol. So its yours man. Or maybe santa does exist?

Anyways, i think your home free man. Because im sure the real "orderer"(whom ever that may be?) was expecting it the day you got it. He's probably been asking the shipping company where the hell it is. He should of had a tracking number for it. So if the shipping company hasn't came by, by now then i think its yours man. The funny thing is, the real customer is prolly calling the company saying he never got it, and the company is just thinking that he's trying to scam them for free second exhaust lol. That would suck to be him though lol. poor guy.

They probably did send that guy a tracking number though, via email.. unless they got all the info wrong... or else you would have gotten the email.. So he's sitting at home with a tracking number that says it went to michigan and got delivered... he's probably pretty confused.

i had this happen with a nitrogen tank i ordered for my paintball gun. I paid for 2 day shipping and i was really confused 3 weeks later when it still hadent showed up. UPS said it had been shipped when i looked up the tracking number... in the end, i payed for 2 day shipping, got my tank a month later, and the company probably went looking for there 300$ tank that was shipped to the wrong person...lol, it was chaos trying to figure out what happened

I doubt that they found the tank though if it went to some one who wanted it. Last night I went out drifting, and I was like, Fuck it. So I put it back on. If all else fails, I guess I will just have to pay for it, but I talked to a lady I work with and she said that something like that has happened to her before and she kept it. So like I said, fuck it.

So I have changed my signature guys. Look at it and you will see what kind of exhaust I got. Its pretty sweet, and I can really tell a difference, but please don't tell on me guys. The quality of the exhaust is just as good as my friends Apexi GT sport exhaust on his S13. And for the money, its a steal. $400 shipped, well, not for me anyway. lol.
