Hi, gang. Just got a 91 LaSabre from my fil. Nice car, runs strong- gotta love them 3800's :D

Anyway, I need some new front strut mounts and wondering what other vehicles use the same mount.

My plans ?!!? I'm gonna build this thing into a sleeper, an anti-rice mobile :D !!!! I think with a little work, this thing can run 13's on the motor, maybe hi-12's with a little spray !!!!!!!!

Along those lines, what other vehicles can we pilfer from, for things like springs, a quicker ratio steering rack, maybe bigger brakes, etc....

I appreciate any help. If any of y'all are in Houston, drop me a line and we'll get together !!!!! Maybe go eat oriental !!!!

Thanks.

If you really want some power, swap in a 3800SC from a mid-90's Park Avenue Ultra(pre-OBDII). It'll be an easy swap since you already have the 3800 engine, so the mounts are the same. Of course, that might take more time and money than you might be able to allow.

Part of the problem with that car is just the sheer weight of it. The LeSabre is built like a tank! But I'm sure there are things you can do to help resolve that ;-)

Yeah, an sc would be bitchin, but I'm gonna try the all-motor route first, maybe do a cheater-spray system. I want to keep it as stock looking as possible. Ultimately, I may find a turbo or sc is necessary. I'd like to get this thing into the 12's... a tall order, for sure :screwy: !!!!!

Yeah, they are heavy little cars :shakehead . Damn GM.....

What about donor cars for parts- ANYTHING we can cross with ??

Thanks.

Last week I came across a site that makes a turbo kit for the Series II 3800. They have some videos of a Pontiac Grand Prix with the kit installed. With some minor modifications to the car (it's mostly stock!), the car was running 11.94 1/4 miles!

I'd LOVE to put one of these in my '94 but I think the wife would kill me.

I think it was just under $3k. They don't currently have a kit available for the earlier 3800's though. But I can keep on dreaming...

Man, that's not a bad price for a turbo kit.

Can you imagine driving our cars with 450 lbs of torque :eek2: ?!!!!? Probably be kinda fun, ya think ?!!? Mmmmm.... and maybe a 70-shot on top of that :D ?!!?

Okay- educate me- what's the difference, when did it happen, and how many generations of the 3.8 are there ?!!? Is any one FAR superior to another ??

just put that turbo kit in your otherwise stock LeSabre... now THAT would be a sleeper car.

As for the history of the 3800, check out these 2 links. It's pretty amazing that the original design for those engines is over 40 years old!

I've been looking into doing mods on my car for a long time. Good luck with it. So far I've got a CAI thanks to Spectre performance parts, 3" in to 4" out exhaust(rice can for now...cheap muffler looks good though) which makes the car sound really mean, and MSD ignition. Helped the car out a bit, but its not enough. Dyno figures put my car about 20 hp over stock on just 3 mods. Cars that are pretty close are the Park Ave's and thats all ive been able to find. Id like to find a Park Ave and steal the instrument cluster out of it for mine. Anyone looking to sell one? Anyone want pics..PM me and let me know what you want to see...Thanks
