Internet dating?

I’m originally from Arizona but through some twist of fate (ARMY), I’m now stationed at Ft. Rucker Alabama. Now I’ve been here for almost a year now and find it impossible to find a half descent chick in southeast Alabama, its like being in a third world country (I feel like I need a passport to drive off base). so I think I’m going to try my hand at this internet dating thing. Most of my matches are long distance 250+miles witch isn’t a bad thing.

What I’m wondering is how many people have tried this and does anyone have any stories, horror or otherwise?

Thanks

I don't have any experience with it, but a good friend of mine did. It wasn't a legit internet dating service or anything, but he basically met this chick chatting online... when all said and done, he left California where he lived his entire life (twenty-some years) and moved out here to Pittburgh, PA and they got married. He couldn't be happier.

I'm not really all about it, but I'd definitely give it a shot if I was given your current situation. Good luck... let us know how it works out for you.

Never worked for anyone I know better than real dating.

Are we talking meeting people online and then actually dating them?(which isn't bad at all) Or dating them online?...cause that would be pretty stupid.

I met someone online before, turns out she was a complete psychopath, if it wasn't for a buddy of mine who works in the Sheriff's Office, I would've made the biggest mistake of my life. That just goes to show you, you gotta be careful b/c they can say one thing to you and even find fake pics to send you, but when you meet them, it's all downhill from there. Internet dating is a death trap and I would run as far away from it as I could possibly go. Do like I did, meet a nice, sweet girl, go out for a while and get married, couldn't be happier!

An old-school friend of mine (haven't seen the bastard in over a year) is now getting married to his internet g/f

P--- ----- is V***'s lil (home from work) says:
chatting to V***y now
P--- ----- is V***'s lil (home from work) says:
shes hot

---------

I've erased the names, but he's a friend of mine, but he's talking about his g/f, she lives in England, he's up the road from me :aus:

Another friend of mine, "dating" a girl from canada for almost a year now. I don't think they've met yet though.

Long distance sucks, and it doesn't always work out. I have tried to have 3 different long-distance relationships, primarily using the phone and internet to keep in touch, and it just plain sucks. That's my take, though.
