I have an 89 Toyota pick-up with a standard 4 wire hook-up.
The marker lights all work, the left and right turn signals work, but no brake lights.I thought it might possibly be a ground gremlin, but I have eliminated that possibilty by running an external ground common to the trailer and the truck.
Any ideas as to what might be wrong?
Thanks,

The problem lies in the brand of vehicle
Now seriously, I'm really not sure about how toyota works with the wiring and such. I would try to test the brake light switch under the dash, it may be bad or out of adjustment. Also try posting in the Toyota forum, they may have further information. ie... this is a common prob. w/a common solution, tips, tricks, etc...
