smoke....oil....need some more info here....does your motor start? if not, it's not a blown tranny :) get under your car and look. if there's a hole in your block with a rod sitting there saying "HELLO!" then you need more than a tranny. if your motor starts, and you push the clutch in, are you able to select any gears? as for a new tranny, hell auto zone carrys our trannys now. my tranny costs $1200 from them i believe, w/ a warranty. yours should be cheaper cause it's a GS. or try junkyards. but don't buy a tranny unless you know for a fact your tranny blew.

I've blown more trannys than I could count, and never saw any smoke. Just not enough heat in the tranny to make smoke.

I've blown 2 tranny's and also did not see any smoke, seems like you have a more major issue on your hands.

I suppose a hole in the tranny could dump some oil on the downpipe and make smoke... Is there a hole in your tranny?

Try calling some local Japanesse used parts place. From my experience they ussualy offer good prices and most of the time are negotiable.

It just sounds like some gear oil got on the exhaust and that is what caused the smoke because I also have never heard of smoke from a blown tranny, but hey it could happen.

the only kind of smoke i ever heard of from a blown tranny is the fluid drippin onto the manifold or a hot part, Thats the only time i seen a blown tranny smoke and thats cause there was a hole blown through it from a gear or a bolt flying off and through the case. Usually when you blow a tranny you just wont move lol.

Thats a nice hole there :) Certainly explains it all. Most likely knocked a tooth or two off a gear, it got between the diff and the case, and got kicked through for 3 points.
