Howdy folks,
I'm a newbie to this forum.
I was entering a highway when I shifted into 4th and the engine whined in rpms(about 4000) and I lost most of my acceleration. I continued to work, perhaps foolishly, but found I could still get the little hummer moving around 70mph. It's completely normal in 1st but shifting to 2nd the rpms jump and the truck doesn't accelerate very well.
Now the neglect. I have been bad. It's needed an alignment since winter ended and the wobble has been pretty noticable of late and also for a little while one of my belts has been squealing when move it in the morning?
I'm hoping it's not the tranny but I was going to bring it in to get the alignment and let the guys there drive it and let me know their thoughts. Thanks for listening.

Welcome to the AF!
Most likely your clutch is giving out. Do you have a standard transmission?

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Yes after doing some research(read: picking local mechanics brains) I have determined it is a clutch and it sounds like it's just wearing out without any/much peripheral damage.
A garage I trust will due the replacement for about 6 cnotes but I'm sort of into pain so I will show my neighbors how ghetto I truly am by having the beast on jackstands and the tranny sittin on the jack.
I have done a tranny replacement before but never a clutch. Gonna be a blast yea.
Later,
T

Getting the transmission out and in is 75% of the battle.
