ABS light

I have a 94 Cutlass supreme SL and the ABS light started coming on for a while now. Since I do not either have the money or initiative to fix the ABS system i just let the thing be on constantly and forgot about it. The normal breaks work fine and honestly, I'd rather drive without ABS anyway.

Just today though, I was coming to a stop, and the beak pedal started pulsating (like it doesn when ABS kicks in when it actually works) and there was a grinding noise coming somewhere from the front. The break's didnt fail though (thank god) and I stopped without any problems. The ABS light came on. Since this wasn't far from home, I kept driving and as soon as the ABS light came on, i had no further problems.

Now the question: is there any danger of the breaks failing completely when this happens? There seem to be no leaks and the break fuild levels are normal. I was just going to go pull the ABS fuse and forget about it again, but is there any danger of doing this?

To be totally honest with you... I want to pull my fuse as well...

Here was my problem when i drive my car for a short period of time, and i sit a stop light for like 2 or 3 minutes,, when i take my foot off of the pedal the car would not move... the brakes would be locked.... i would have almost accelerate to about 20mph before it would release... I thought it was my tranny until one day my ABS light came on and it started working fine.

Every now and then it will still give me a little problem at stops, when the ABS light is not on...

I'm thinkin seriously about pulling the fuse, I can't see anyharm in pulling it... You pull yours first and let me know what happens ,,,,lol

My brakes have been doing that for over a month now...

I don't really worry about it anymore because I figured if my brakes were going to give out on me, they would've done it already. Maybe pulling the ABS fuse would be an ok idea...

yeah man,
although this is a fairly old topic, I've been driving since I posted it, and so far everything is working alright. THe light comes and goes, but the breaks work fine, so I say f*ck it.

I have had the ABS light on stead for a while. Sometimes while at a complete stop, the breaks let up a bit... also as soon as the ABS light came on, cruise control stoped working. I am guessing it may be a vaccume problem... have not checked into it and I do not have good enough documentation (manufacturers manuals) to really do any indepth work. Any fixes??

No fixes yet.
I think the cruise control simply stops working as a precautionary measure as soon as the ABS stops working. As far as the cause, its probably something to do with the sensors, since the light only comes on after driving for a bit (at least for me)

I have a 1995 Cutlass and the ABS light has been coming on and off for years. I had it checked by the deal back in 2002 and was told that the senor was bad. The light only comes on in hot weather and stays on it does not effect the brakes or cruise. I have 280,000 miles on the car and all is still good.
