A 1985 BMW 318. Hmm. Not exactly what I would have in mind to make it a one of a kind. But whatever floats your boat. WHould you be planning to make it a rally-style car, or a dune-buggy style car? Jacking up the suspention will guarentee ground clearence. But is it going to be hell to drive off-road, considering its RWD? Mabey its FWD, since its from 1985, I dont know. It'll be different I can tell you that. I would just slap some 18" racing rims and a body kit on it to make it one of a kind. But do what you want. And post pics of when you get stuck in the mud, haha.

I once saw a 2nd gen 2002 on eBay built on a 325xi chassis, it was modified for off-road use. The auction was cancelled early, but it got me thinking about welding the crap out of a hopelessly rusted square light and making a Frankenbimmer out of it. It can be done, but why?

One of my favorite past rides was a1984 e30 eta....I was jealous of all my friends having lifted box chevys, so I upped the anti by installing 22" wire rims....to achieve this feat, I installed a set of air shocks intended for a crown vic in rear..for the front, I made lift cups that mounted to the strut plate....I made this by cutting 2" off of a 3" diameter pipe, welded to adapter plates and used extra long bolts to reinstall the struts....this made for a nimble arrogant toy that drove and handled incredibly! I'm currently lifting my 95 e34, using the strut cup method front and rear... You could also use 325ix coils if your lifting an e30....there 2" taller from the factory.
