I saw an alpine amp I was interested in that was a 350@2ohm watt 1 channel. They also offer a sub thats listed as (2ohm + 2ohm)...
Would that notation indicate that it's 4 ohm total or 2 ohm's? I tried searching but didn't seam to turn up anything useful.. Sorry if thats a really newbish question.

its all in how you wire it. the scamatics with the speaker will show you how to wire it to a 2 or 4 ohm load.

If it is a dual 2ohm sub (2ohm+2ohm) then it can only be wired into a 1ohm or a 4ohm load. The amp which you are looking at (350w@2ohm) would not work with this sub. You would need a single 2ohm sub or a dual 4ohm sub (4ohm+4ohm). If you need anything else, just PM me.

Two Dual 2 ohm subs wired like shown below produce a 2ohm Load...
2 DVC drivers with Voice Coils in Series / Parallel
Connecting the two voice coils of each driver in series (+ to -) and the drivers themselves in parallel (+ to +, etc.) will result in the following impedances:
Dual-6 Ohm Subwoofers: 6 Ohms
Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofers: 4 Ohms
Dual-2 Ohm Subwoofers: 2 Ohms

cool thanks. I actually picked up jlaudio sub and amp. Very nice stuff. Yet to install it. We got the same package for my friends neon installed it in his car it's very nice.
My delema is changing the dash unit. I like my cd changer and the infinity stuff sounds good. I think i'm gonna keep it and go line level outputs off the back speakers like we did in the neon. It worked well.

I just want to add that the better the deck, the better the music (or whatever) will sound.

My problem Is I can't find a deck that meets my needs. I have the if it isn't broke why replace it syndrome and the current one isn't broke..
I would like a deck that.. Allows me to plug in a cd changer, XM, and my iPod I was leaning towards an alpine but I don't think you can have all three plugged in at once. And thats where I stand on the deck, Also I would have to replace all the speakers, current amp. It seems like a very pricey project when it already sounds okay. It's a convertible so most of the sound I wont hear clearly when I'm on the highway which is where most of my driving is done.
the Sub is a jl 10w3 it sounded really sweet in the neon.

My Ipod Doesn't always come with me. I forget it often and it's a pain to plug in for say a 5 mintues drive somewhere in which case it's nice to have the cd's. I suppose I can live with one cd. I don't see any reason why I couldn't.
It just seems a waste to rip out a perfectly good system to replace it. Although with all my interior modifications the stereo looks less and less nice.
:/ it's an odd attachment. Maybe after I see what rolls in for my bday. I have to pay off the car first..

Don't change the dash unit if you don't have to. I LOVE the stock dash player. Steroes are the FIRST thing theives look for, and a stocker is a nice deterent. My installer said that all you need is a more powerful high-low converter (whatever the hell that is) and you can run your stock dash system with anything.

I think that you can hook all three up to an Alpine deck at the same time
