98 Eclipse RS, Exhuast backfire

My 98 Eclipse RS runs strong and with no probs, however when im in any-gear say 3rd and I let go of the gas and start to decelerate around 3000 rpm the exhuast sounds like it backfires (loud pop) from the exhuast. This is only when im declerating in a gear, It doesnt cuase any engine probs or mess with the performance at-all. If any-one knows a possible cuase let me know.

Also there is no CEL.

I have a high flow cat, would that cuase the prob, Also what is a sig.

Its ur signature. The thing at the bottom of each post. Go up to the top rightish then go to User CP then go click on signature and put in ur info(year, model and tranny (auto/5spd).

Theres many cuases for a back-fire, I know that if timing is off the engine will miss-fire hence back-fire (loud pop). It depends on the type of back-fire it is. The intake manifold can back-fire from vacuum leaks and the exhuast can back-fire from exhuast leaks and many-other related probs. If timing is off and you have back-fire probs your probly bending some valves.

i was just wondering cause my GSX back fired a little when i got my cat back put on so im guessing they messed up on the welding and there is a hole somewhere? i looked around couldnt really find anything also you said any vac lines from the intake manafold? it mostly happens i tested it when im driving at like 2800 rpms and i let go of the gas and then tap it quick and let go and it makes a little pop sound what would that be exhaust leak?
