The car is supposed to automatically lock the doors when you put the car in drive, and unlock them when you put them in park, right? or at least thats what ive seen all the other aleros do. for some reason mine doesnt do that, i have power locks and all but they only lock or unlock by pressing the button. i have an 00 gx coupe...anyone know about this? its not a big deal but im just wondering if it could be a fuse or something, i cant tell becuase the car didnt come with a user manual :-(

I have a "quick reference guide" in my car that talks about programming the car to do this. I can look at it tonight and get back to ya.

hey mgs2006, i dont think that it is a fuse or anything like that, i just has to be programmed to lock and unlock when its taken out of park. Here is the programming steps: first, close all the doors and make sure the ignition is in the ON position and your foot is on the brake pedal. When you move the gearshift out of Park, all the doors will automatically lock. When the gearshift is returned to Park, and the ignition is turned OFF, all doors will automatically UNLOCK. I hope this helps a little bit, let me know if you have any more questions

You're stuck in or programmed in Mode 4. OK guys lets try this:

1) Put it in park or reverse if manual and turn ignition to on.

2) Press and hold the lower part of the power door lock switch for 10 seconds. Release when you hear the chime.

3) Count number of chimes you hear. The number of chimes tells you what mode you are currently in. There are a total of 4. Aleros come from the factory in Mode 1 described in the other thread.

4) You can change the mode by pressing and holding the lower part of the power door lock switch. (one chime for Mode 1, two chimes for Mode 2, 3 for Mode 3 and so on.

5) Repeat step 2 until you hear the number of chimes that matches
the mode you want, in this case mode 1 and release the switch at that
point.

BTW - If this doesn't work you've got a problem. And to use Mode 2 you must have remote keyless entry and the transmitter. Good Luck!
