Photobucket or Fotki?

Hey all-

Well, I've managed to do it: I've filled my entire allotment of image disk space on AF on one model. I have 400kb left 9 (5 or 6 decent shots), and I can't even really finish the F50 with that. :disappoin Sooo, time to look elsewhere for image hosting.

Does anyone have any opinions on Photobucket or Fotki (or any other image hosting service), good bad or otherwise? Much appreciated!

As I said in PM, for your F50, I could host it and you could clean your AF gallery :P

Anyway, some member use www.imageshack.us too

With a paid fotki account you have unlimited space. I've had it for two years now and love it. I've never really had any problems and the upload features are nice and numerous. Although this year they had to hike the price to $50 a year compared to last years $35. I understand that can be a plastic kit or something else for your hobby, but it really is a small price to pay for a great service.
You can also have your pictures laid out how you like, custom colors etc.. Many opitons. Take a look at my fotki and others by clicking the commmunity tab.
My link is in my sig.

at that price, you can have your own Hosting service. :eek7:

my :2cents:

I've just set up both fotki and photobucket accounts (NB freebie accounts because I think that will be enough space for me)

Of the two I prefer fotki:
a. It has a much friendlier interface and is easier to manage accounts
b. The maximum size foto I can upload is larger (no limit? vs 250kb)
c. The server seems to be faster

For me the GUI was very important factor but there may well be very good technical reasons that make photobucket a superior subscriber product.

PS having said that, I still can't figure out how to make orginal size images available to everyone :)))))

I would also recommend Fotki and actually have 2 paid accounts, one for family pics etc that we all use and one purely for my car stuff, models etc.

Great service.

I use photobucket for a while now. Never had any problems and it's very easy to work with. You can store 25MB of pictures which should be more then enough if you post once in a while and you use decent pic format.

I have my own website for my model images, but to save my bandwidth, I bought a Webshots account for event photos and such where I take many photos. It seems to work pretty well to me.

Although, since i'm a Mac user, I have to upload using Virtual PC since they don't have an osX verision of their upload software. *grumble*. The major gripe I have with Webshots is you can't direct link your images. You'll have to just make a link to it, which I guess isn't that big of a deal, but it's nice to see images in the thread.
