Engine Switch

I have a 94 wagon, and i want to change engines. I am lookin at putting the Focus 2.0 Zetech in. is this a good idea or is there another engine i should use? If so which one?

The 2.0 Zetec is not a direct swap, but it will fit and make a good amount of power for a goode price. However, for $1875, Corksport sells this 1.8L Turbo 4 cyl (http://www.corksport.com/cgi-bin/test.cgi?gfx=/gtrengine.jpg&text=GTR+Engine&back=jengine.html) from the Japan spec Mazda 323 GTR, the sister car to the Escort. This engine is basically a direct fit, but you will need a compatible transmission and electronics as well. A few people that have done this swap have ended up paying between $3000 and $6000. It is pricey, but it's a direct fit, you can brag about having a JDM engine, and it will give you about 210 hp in stock form.
