ITR internals

Hey guys, whats up?... thanks all of you for your time.

In the last 2 months or so this was my dilema "NA or turbo", I finally decided to go all motor. And yes, I know that anybody with turbo can easilly beat me but I just love the idea of NA. well, in my long research I've find out a lot of things and I will go wiht the Type R set up. I just want to know a couple of things.

I got the rods, the pistons and rings. I heard I needed some more stuff (head gasket and somethig else) whats all I realy need to do this set up the right way?
Also need to know, where can I find a "how-to" about taking out pistons and putting them back? (wiht pictures plz)
I heard that in order to replace my internals I will need some machine shop help, I dont have too much experience but I will give it I try myself. Do I really need a machine shop have this thing done for me or can I do it myself I a couple of weeks?

Im using a B18b1 block, and Im also using a LS head (I'm not into the LS/Vtec thing). And yes, I want to use the ITR internals not the CTR.
so, what parts do I need besides the valves, springs, retiners, head gasket, pistons and rods?
thats all I can think about?... do you guys know any site wiht "how-to" about working on a NA motor?...

I just love the idea of NA

You love the idea of getting the living snot beaten out of you by most cars on the road? Turbos make more power, more torque, and you can do it for less money. To top it all off, you want to do it with an LS head, lol. You do know that the most powerful street LS motors in the world are making 180, 185 WHP tops, right? A stock LS motor with a tiny T3 turbo, no intercooler, and an FMU will kick the snot out of a built all motor LS for less money.

The thing is that I dont like to be like everybody else "drop couple of bucks on turbo and thats the end of the journey". I want to work on somenthing and see how far I can go. Its not always about being fast, for me is more of the "build something and see how it works". If you love your turbo for less money thats cool, but remember not everybody think the same way. Turbo is cool, but I know I wont be please with that. For me NA is the way to go if you want to learn to build somenthing with your own hands.

next time, if you want to post something just make sure you read the thread. I never said "NA is faster or better than turbo" I just said I like more the Idea of it. try to RESPECT people thoughts.

wiht that said, there is any site where I could find a how-to about building an engine? and what about the parts that I will need to complete the job?... any ideas?

if this is the first motor you are building i suggest you try working on something else to gain more experience(like a d15 or something) or have some with experience guide you. Also, there are lots of books that will help you(i think pepboys got some specifically on doing hondas).

bunch of n/a LS guys on there, most with just alittle head work and bolt ons/tuning making 160+whp.

Buy a book on engine building, and buy a good manual for your engine. If you don't know what clearance is (should be self explanatory) or know if you need those tools; then you should read up on engine building before you consider attempting it.

Thats what I will do, after all I have a lot of time time to do this. one more thing, will the ITR camshaft fit a LS head wiht no machine work involved? I been thinking a lot about it because I heard you ne some shaving to make them fit. is that true?.. to be more espesific, will the ITR internals fit perfectly in my LS block and head?

No you can not put vtec cams in a non-vtec head. If you want ITR cams (or any vtec cams for that matter), then buy a vtec head and do an LS/VTEC or just do the complete vtec block.

You will gain more, by going with the CTR oversized pistons, than you will ITR. Crower makes a good non vtec cam as well.

I dont want to build a LS/Vtec because I heard they are too complicated. Im just looking for a powerfull all motor LS.

One more thing, the reason why I want to build this High compression LS is because Im going NOS. Any sugestions?
