I just saw this happen about an hour ago. One of our local Cops and a county Cop were talking abut a small chase they had a while back and got in an argument about whos car was faster. The town Cop said that his 2004 Impala was faster than the county Cops 2005 Crown Vic. The County Cop said well lets find out. If I win, you buy the McDonalds and if you win, I buy. Now mind you, this is in a gas station at 11:15 at night. The Cops pull out in front of the gas station and at a 10-15 mph roll, they both hit it. Get this, they went off the county Cops siren. The Impala was leading when the went out of sight but the Crown Vic was pullin' up preety quickly. I would have loved to have seen the end but I was to dumb-struck to get in my truck and follow.

im a criminal justice major, so most of my teachers are ex cops. What you just told me is not uncommon at all. I know its sad, but cops break laws like that all time. One of my favorite stories from my teachers is this one. He said when he was working the graveyard shift with absolutely nothing to do, the cops on duty would go to the local grocery store and have shopping cart races. They would push the shopping carts up to like 60 MPH with the front bumper and let em rip.

lol thats some crazy shit..haha one time my best friend raced a security guard or something. All i kno is that it had one of the sirens and the symbol for security on it.

About the cop tryin to race you...if they seduce YOU into racing, i dont think they can legally get you for it...

 shopping cart racing

If I would have seen the two cops racing, I would have pulled up next to them, and hopefully beat them. Aren't the cop cars like 16 second cars?

I don't know but i've seen some of those cop cars with some badass engine upgrades. Some of those chevy caprice cop cars had 383 strokers with about 350hp. Seen one in the want ad.

I dont think so. A friend of mine has a 2001 Intrepid cop car, got it at auction. It runs mid 11s. The only thing hes done to it is very minor suspension work. I dont know if this is an isolated case or not, but that car hauls some serious a$$!

I been married for close to 25 years so this story is really old, but while we were dating I had to have her home by 2 AM and I'd be back home by about 2:30, for a whole summer every Saturday night on my way back from dropping her off, like clockwork I would see 2 of the township squad cars lined up in each lane of the interstate with the lights blazing and they both take off from a dig, or the run was already in progress and and both would stay right in it until the first exit 2 miles down then the lights go off and they exiit at the ramp and both go their separate ways. There have been many times I wanted to join in and see if I could keep up or outrun them but the thought of a ticket just didn't appeal to me because if I fought the ticket it was 2 against 1.

were talking 1/4 mile, not 1/8th. And unless you got some kind of proof, i highly doubt it.

What about the "special police packages"? Anyone from texas or florida, I used to hear about the stangs and camaros they would have on interstates to catch the speeders.

My Sunday School Teacher is an Oklahoma Highway Patrole officer. He had a special edition Z28 and he said it was scary fast and could turn on a dime.

the special police packages if i'm not mistaken are suspension only upgrades. No motor work i don't think.

Texas here, I think the Chase cars have some serious work, but the regular ones dont. I talked to my dad (cop in a coupla states, both chase and cruiser cars), and he says they have a little bit of work, but not a whole lot. Considering they have an extra 300-400 lbs worth of saftey stuff and equipment on the inside, you'd have to think that the 16 seconds, with all that shit removed, would be pretty fast. I know in Texas, the Pomaros have a chip and some other stuff, and I think they use an SS.

B4C Option for the Camaro Z28 which has 280hp 320ft-lbs, B4C is more aggressive suspension. Runs 13's probalby 14's with the safety equipment. Mean buggers. Not really going to outrun much in Cali unless you have a full tank with a McClaren F1 ^_^

I thing the regular cruisers are made for high speed stability as opposed to all out acceleration. Afterall, I don't think the cop wants to actaully tear past the car he's chasing, and most people dont have cars that'll go much past 130, be it governed, or just not have enough power. And for those who do, that's what tehy have the police interceptors for :)

No, that's why they have Helicopters... not much will out run the helicopter.

And if you can, which is doubtful, but if you are able to you surely cannot out run the Motorola. The radio will always be faster.

yup, escape 1 cop and the whole force is on your ass, unless you live in a big city...

and I've seen enough times, especially late at night im sitting at a red light with a cop beside me, he puts on his lights and drives through the red, then turns them off and keeps going on, while im sitting there stopped at the light...that pisses me off more than anything

just goes to show that if you wanna be a frickin criminal all you have to do is become a cop. someone needs to hold them accountable for things like this. or maybe they should loosen up the rules on us some... big brother always knows whats best nowadays...

He might of gotten a call? Maybe had to take a piss? Never know.

Part of the priviledge of being a cop is you can do damn near anything (within reason.) Kinda the reward you get for dealing with the lowest forms of human kind day in and day out.

Its the life they choose. That shouldnt give them special privliges. I deal with the scum of the earth everyday(im in iraq)camehome on leave and got six points and 2500 dollar ticket. All the cop said was good luck in Iraq. The law is the law. If they enforce it they should follow it.

I completely agree with you on Caveman, i mean i am just getting my license back as of this friday because of to many points taken off for speeding and wrecking my car. The only thing is i got a ticket for going 60 in a 55 and the cop told me i was going 70 in a 55 with a brand new may i add chevy impala. But then again they always are right ,even though i went to court for the ticket and yet again the civilian looses .

Maybe that's what is making me want to become a copt o get dumb people like the cops we have talked about that break the law out of the force?

We sha'll see but all i know is that im getting a caprice and hopfully it's the police interceptor package and if not then alot of upgrades will fallow.

I got pulled over by a N.C. highway patrol in 94. While I was in the back seat getting my ticket I asked him what he thought about his 92 lx 5.0 patrol car...He said that is faster to 60 but he would love to have his caprice classic back... He said the chevy was way faster at highway speeds and handled much better...I asked him about the police package and I was told that it was only suspension upgrades and that the motors were stock in both cars...I have also seen police racing each other b4...lets face it as much as I hate the man, some of them love to race as well.....
