Worst car to try to race...

So its Monday morning (around 2-3 AM) and I had just got done working over in Tampa (I live in Orlando). I have school the next morning and Im trying to get atleast a little sleep, so Im doing about 90-100 on the highway(I-4). I haven't seen a car in several minutes up until this point.

As I said, I was cruising down the highway doing about 90-100, and I see headlights behind me(1/2 mile back?), but think nothing of it. I take a second look and notice it is gaining on me...and rather quickly. I noted that it had Ford headlights, and I figured the only car that would be going that fast is a fellow Mustang so I prep myself for a race.

The car is closing in extremely fast at this point, so I go from 5th to 4th, just to try and slow his progress a little so maybe he can take notice of me. I get up to about 110-120...and it is still gaining at a ridiculous rate. I level it off at 120 assuming this guy doesnt wanna go. At this point its a couple hundred feet back. I look away for a few seconds and then look back, and the car is out of sight. Then I notice the car is in my blind spot and not moving, and I find this odd considering there is not another car on the road and were both doing about 110-120 and it still wont remove itself from my blind spot. I brake a little to get a glimpse of this car...I will never forget what I saw....it was a Crown Victoria....COP CAR :eek2:
all I could do was stare at the police officer. He turned his head and gave me a look unlike anything else, half mixed with disbelief the other half anger, then sped away. I am in total shock...and cant figure out why I wasn't getting arrested (the limit is 55mph, so that equates to a very big ticket and a probability of being arrested).

Still in shock, I get a few miles down the road and see some cop flares. No ambulances or anything yet, just 2 cop cars and 3 severely mamed cars (2 were flipped over I think). Nobody was out of their car walking around so Im safely assuming their were some fatalities involved :uhoh: . I slow to a roll and pass by, and as I do I see the same cop I had just tryed to race look at me and shake his night stick at me. All I could muster was look of guilt.

Well, he might of been on a really serious call. Trying to get someplace in a hurry to back up a fellow Officer.

And you were small fish in comparison to the big fish that maybe needed to be caught.

He might of saw what you tried to do, and knew the fact that when you saw who he was... that you knew you were caught and didn't want any more of his attention.

Probably better that way.;)

I was told by a State Cop that I know the Police Interceptor Crown Vics will do about 145 topped out. You might still get a ticket in the mail if he jotted down your plate number while he was in your blind spot. That or he was checking out your car and you for future reference. Either way, your a marked man on that highway for a while, better watch yourself and mind the speed because you can bet the word is out on you now, and the whole force that patrols that road will know it.

i got pulled over today on some BS, the cop was doing like 80 in the left lane, and i went into that lane, he slowed down (i noticed he was behind me so i did 60, limit is 55) and then rode my ass for about 10 seconds, then pulled me over.

I did the usual polite bs, and he let me go. then he sped the fuck off at like 90. Hypocrites.

haha yeah I passed a cop doing about 100 on a highway country road once. It was a police truck so i didn't realize what I was passing . I threw it into 3rd and ran all the way out to 100, then I look over and see the decals on the truck. I almost shat myself. i still passed him, and slowed right back down. he didn't pull me over, it was real late at night I guess he was tired. Still, scary.

I didn't think a cop would be going 140+ without its siren on. Also I never see cops on I-4. Now take into account what Ford cars other then Mustangs would be hitting 140ish? None? So maybe now you can understand my reasoning.

This reminds me of a funny story, one night after our football game(before i graduated obviously) my best friend and i decided to go into abilene to do a little celebrating well he drove like 95 the whole way and i drove the speed limit, about 2 miles outa town i decide to catch up to him so im doin like 135 and i see him about a 1/4 mile up the road all the sudden this cop comes outa no where and pull onto the highway i slammed on my brakes and still passed the cop goin at lest 90 and guess what he gave my buddy a ticket lol mwahhaha

first he was more than likley checking your plates for warrents, and to see if your car was stolen etc.

i wonder how you would gather that i have anything against police in general. when you read my posts, please read what is written instead of whats not. I have nothing against cops, my father is one. Before i was doing 60 i was doing 61. The fact is that the cop was speeding before he got to me. If he was on a call, why would he stop me? Isn't that wasting time? He could have switched lanes and went on his business. Furthermore, we're not talking about some deserted road here, this was the New York state thruway. There we lots of other motorists travelling at a faster velocity than i was. Like i said, i was not pulled over for speeding (the officer even told me so). btw i was not driving my car, i was driving my friends car (with his lazy ass in it no less).

Hrmm...I would think that there is a considerable difference between a mustang's headlights and a crown vic's. But I guess if it's that early in the morning and you've been working all day and the cop is doing over 120mph, I can see where a mistake may be made.

Either way, I'm sure that's a mistake you'll never make again...haha
