I have a broken wire that has become disconnected to a sensor on the engine of my 97 C/K. This sensor is located near the spark plugs on the drivers side. Can anybody tell me what this sensor does?

I could be wrong, but I believe this is the
knock sensor.

If it is, I think it adjusts your timing
temporarily when knock detected

i have a sensor on the left side of the block on my old 350 in my 73 cheyenne and it is the engine temperature sensor. maybe thats what it is? does your temp guage work?

The knock sensor is in the block not the heads. If the sensor is in the head between the spark plugs, then it is the temp sensor for the gauge.
