Stalling problem-could be from TCC?

Hello again,
I want to clarify one thing about my 1993 Pontiac TransSport 3.1L VinD vehicle:
Recently, I was having stalling problem while slowing down to a traffic light with gear engaged to 'D'. It would start fine but would die when engaged, after sometime, it would race but would be back to normal RPM. Someone advised me to remove the wire coming from the TCC.
I drove the van and noticed that there was some improvement.
Do you think it solved the problem?
If I left the TCC disconnected, anything that might happen?
Please, if anyone could give me ideas...
