Will the bugs be worked out of the engine by the time they release to the public? (i assume since they are currently racing it)
What kind of gas mileage will this get? Is it practical to buy this car to use as an every day kinda car?
Is there special maintenance required for this engine? :icon16:

Cobra What? The next Cobra will be the 2007 Shelby GT-500. As far as I know there is only a prototype built as of right now, and they are working on what they need for production.
The motor shares enough already in use components that it should have few if any new bugs to work out...

I meant the 2007 Shelby GT-500, yes. What is the difference between the new Shelby GT-500 and the previous Cobra's?
Should it be used as a weekend car, rather than a commute every day kind of car?

i think your question depends on the driver. would you only drive the 03 cobra on weekends and for special occasions or would you drive it on the regular?

#1 they arent currently racing it, they are racing a mustang with a ohc 5.0, and there wont be any bugs to work out most likely, theyve been using the engine for years. its a 5.4 liter with a supercharger. the same engine as a ford gt with a slightly different setup so it doesnt produce quite as much hp. but it wouldnt be hard to get it there... and over.

The '03 Cobra has a supercharged 4.6 with an IRS. The new Shelby is going to have a supercharged 5.4 (same engine as the GT-40 except the block will be iron) with a solid rear axle.
Should it be used as a weekend car, rather than a commute every day kind of car?
Do you really need to ask that? The thing is going to be making at least 450 horsepower. What does that sound like to you?

They aren't racing it and what bugs are you talking about? They've used this engine in the GT-40 and a couple of the last Lightnings if I'm not mistaken.

Again do you have to ask this? With 450 horsepower and almost 4000 pounds it's not going to get GEO Prizm gas milage. If you're going to use this as a daily driver prepare to be at the gas station a whole lot.
