I need some advice. Should I upgrade to the new 6.0 Diablo, or should I keep my '99 Diablo VT. It is car #5 of 12 in the Alpine Edition.

Don't get me wrong I love my car, but the reason why I ask is, I was driving the other day and a blue 6.0 pulled up next to me, and I could not help but feel a little inferior. Even though my car might be a tad faster because of the exhaust upgrades, not to mention that mine is about 30k more than a standard 6.0, but I still don't know?

What do you think?

Welcome to AF abstract!
I am the webmaster here, and if you need any help or questions answered, don't hesitate to contact me ;)

Well, if I was in your position, it would be a touch choice for me as well. Both of the cars are the cream of the crop, the only thing is the 6.0 is newer. What I strongly suggest is that you get the 6.0 and sell me your VT. I will buy it off of your hands for a VERY low price

Now, enough messing around. This really does seem like a dead lock. Can't you get the 6.0 and keep the VT, so you have both? If you can't do that, I say you should stay with the VT, simply because it's more rare than the 6.0.

i would go for the 6.0 it looks alot better, and newer.... but it's a tough choice

if you really own a Diablo, you have enough money to buy me a honda civic or something right? that's just penny change for you! please reply :)

Hi there,

keep the Alpine Edition, the Diablo VT 6.0 is an end of life model, the new Lamborghini will be available starting from next year and you'll see a sharp drop in value for the 'old' VT 6.0, since there is not limited edition (only the 40 Diablo SE 6.0's) the Alpine Edition should keep it's value a lot longer.

Do note however that your car was only sold in the United States,
the rest of the world never received a special Alpine Edition of the 1999 MY Diablo VT, just like the Momo Edition Roadster, US model only, built on order for the US distributor at that time.

Kind regards

I say keep the one you have. It's rarer than the other Diablo's. 2cents:)

You sound like your posting to yourself. I also say keep it because the 99' VT is not a how heck of a lot different than the new 6.0 If you felt inferior enough to get one then do it. If you like the new 6.0 then do it. I say keep your Alpine Edition cause it's real rare. BTW, give us feedback, it rare to actually talk to a Lamborghini owner.

Qutie Lovely. Are those polished rims stock? Or is it an Alpine feature? If you do choose to buy a New 6.0 (And have no real problem with colour) get the Blue one, I forget the actually colour's name but, blue on a 6.0 in a match made in Heaven.

The car came stock with alloy Lamborghini rims, and the car looked so plain, so I upgraded to the chrome rims, and I think it looks like a totally different car.
In regards to color, I agree with you blue looks stunning on the 6.0, but do you prefer the light blue (snowcorn blue) or the middle blue (Monterey blue) or the darkest blue (Navy blue)?

Here she is from behind. :)

Once again a lovely view of that car. I'd like to see the engine and Interior if possible. As for colour, I was speaking of Snowcorn Blue which I think looks the best. I have seen a Monterey Blue 99' Diablo SV which also looks very good. It is difficult to say which looks best becuase Lamborghini obvious makes sure that only the best colours are on their cars. If you are looking for my opinion on which shade of blue is best my vote goes to Snowcorn Blue.

* BTW, I am looking at an add right now for Platnuium Motors of Las Vegas or Beverly Hills and they currently have 2 Blue diablos with different Blues than what you said.

1. 2001 Diablo VT 6.0

Blue Hera/ Snowcorn (It's a Dark Navy Bluewith a Black Interior)

2. 2001 Diablo VT 6.0

Blue Ely/ Snowcorn (This is the light Blue that I like and Lamborghini says it's a new colour.)

I don't know wether or not these colours overlap yours but they are Navy and Light Blue. Also, Is Snowcorn a Black colour?

I would rather pay the ticket, rather than put a plate on the front, and I have attatched a pic of the Alpine Edition Badge that is behind the drivers side window. Sorry about the pic it is a scan. I let my buddy borrow my digital.

My car was originally manufactured for the MOMO racing family, but upon delivery they decided not to keep it. To make a long story short, Platinum Motors in Santa Ana California, gave me a good deal. If you want a figure, the Alpine Edition, when I bought it, cost a little less than 30K more than a stock Diablo VT.

What exactly is the difference between the stock VT and the Alpine?

There are a few differences. First, the Alpine Edition Lamborghini has of course an Alpine Multimedia system in it, which includes a 6 disc CD changer (located behind the passenger side seat), DVD, navigation, AM/FM strereo, amplifier (located in the front trunk of the car), one ten inch subwoofer (located behind the drivers seat), upgraded tweeters, and one additional aux input for whatever. Cosmetically, the biggest difference in the Alpine edition is the addition of carbon fiber in various places on the car. For example, the gill slits on the side of the car are carbon fiber, the interior is trimmed with carbon fiber, the shift nob, the eyelids on the xenon headlights are made of carbon fiber, the engine casing is carbon fiber, etc. you get the point.
The last few differences are the addition of the Diablo SV racing rear spoiler (which is also adorned with carbon fiber) also the rims are accented with gold plated screws, and most importantly, which is what made the decision for me, are the Alpine floormats. J/K
The engine is untouched. Although, on the #5 car that I own has had an exhaust upgrade done by Tubi.

Now pardon me if I sound nieve, but why get two of the same car?

I understand you must love your Diablo (duh!), but as you said, yours is already a step ahead of the 6.0, right? If you've got the money to get both, why not buy a supercar of a different marque? Then you'd wake up and say, "Should I drive the Lambo or the Ferrari to work today?" Or the DeTomaso? Etc... (Wow, it's hard to compare something to a Diablo! I think I might be missing the point with the DeTomaso.)

Or perhaps you should go out of your way to find something else, something unexpected. You could make every AF member even more shocked/amazed/jealous if you call up MotoRex and order a Nismo 400R. They look nice in red or yellow. Or black or grey. :D Or sneak a TVR into the country; they're pretty nice, too!

Just my random (and poorly organized) thoughts on the matter.

The Lamborghini has always been my dream car. I have always wanted one since I was a kid. I am just thankfull that I have had the good fortune and luck (not to mention a LOT of hard work) to afford one. My intention was not to shock/amaze/ nor make anyone jealous. I simply wanted some input from a few people who are knowledgable with high end automobiles; therefore, my friend suggested this forum. I am sorry if I offended you (because it sort of sounds like you are). I do appreciate your opinion, but I just want to ask, what kind of Ferrari are you talking about Modena, Modena Spyder or F-50?

I'm totally impressed that you've even got the opportunity to have a choice like that. Makes me realize how bad I need to get my shit together.

Oh, I've got no idea. Whatever you like, it is for you. (You could go out and get it for yourself for your birthday. ;) ) It just seems to me it would be really cool to have two awesome cars that are totally different. And, in your price range, you could totally make it happen. :D That's why I came up with the TVR and the Skyline.

Do you get what I mean? :smoka:

I can tell you, to the best of my knowledge that there is a New Special edition Diablo either coming out or already out. It is called the Diablo 6.0 SE and features a rear mounted camera for backing up and looking behind you. I'm not sure on prices but it will be considerably more than the stock Diablo. It only comes in Black and Gold. As for the Diablo's replacement, you should check the other threads on the Lamborghini forum. I also believe Lamborghini it coming out with a "Smaller" model in 03' or 04'. I think it is priced in the Ferrari 360 Modena range and sports a V-10.

BTW, if you desire to own Lamborghini's over other Exotics, you should look at the Diablo GT. It isn't street legal but neither is the Lotus Elise or any TVR, I duobt that cops would pull you over seeing as it looks failry similar to a stock Diablo.

gang$tarr

yeah i'd suggest that you get different cars........... like keeping your Diablo and then getting a 360 spyder or somethin, that way you have to totally different exotic cars

Let see........ in my dream garage I would have a Diablo and 360 Spyder...which one should drive today? I would check the weather report for rain...if moisture is in the forcast I'll just go with the Yugo.
...............................................
You could understand the dealers reluctance to sell a dream car when he has a Dioblo that he has to sell now. Assuming the cars are not on consignment, I wonder what the daily/weekly interest rate would be for a new Diablo just sitting on the showroom floor?

I had bought a few issues of the duPont Registry and then decided to try a year subscription. I enjoyed each issue but found many of the ads repetitive. The subscription is over now. I learned about not only the different exotic car models but also the special editions availible.
After you read thruogh an issue you sort of feel like the world is for of these special cars and sort of expect to see a Lamborghini at the next stop light....wrong!
Silver S2000... since you live in California you have pretty good chance of actually visiting some of these dealers and seeing some of the special cars featured...but, alas, I just have the back issues to keep the Lamborghini memories alive.

I swear to the God in heaven, I too shall own a Lamborghini! Kinda funny, so far all I've been able to afford was a kit car for a Pontiac Fiero. Looks like a Lamborghini from about 100 feet away, until you notice 1" gaps in the doors!!:D Actually not a bad running car, even though a big shot of NOS is required to keep up appearences. Anyways, I'm glad abstract is able to afford one and I reccomend keeping his lambo. Due to the rarity and documented history, his car is very valuable.
