Speed limit?

Hi,

I've been driving Freeway 99 in BC for a couple of years now - for those who don't live around the same area, the speed limit at the site is stated as 80 km/H. However, every car on the hwy is doing at least 100, so, after a couple of weeks of being tailgated at 80 km/h, I upped my speed to about 100...

After a couple of months, nothing seemed to happen, and every car that I see on that road is doing at least as fast as I am - but yesteday...I got a ticket from a ghost...

Opinions?
btw, I got the ticket at around 8 pm, the cars in front of me (far away and still visible) were doing the same speed - but I was all alone in the rear...

Well you can argue it and say you were speeding, but were traveling safely at the speed of traffic. But the fact of the matter is you were speeding in the literal sense, so it really is up to the cop on how much leway he feels like giving you that specific day.

So, while going to court may not get the ticket thrown out, I would still go simply for the fact that 90% of the time, going to court at least results in a reduction of the charges and penalties. If you read any other thread here on speeding tickets, there is a wealth of information to be had. As well you may want to check out www.beatmyspeedingticket.com
