1986 Xj6..to sell or not to sell

Hey guys i got problem...well i finally reached the age for a car. right now i have in my driveway is a 1986 jaguar xj6. it needs a little work, but i would like to avoid the expense to fix it, i was thinkin of trading or selling it for a down payment on an infiniti G35...is this a smart idea or not? some feed back please.
