power windows on 1998

I have a 1998 Durango with power windows. The window button on the passenger door, as well as the window button on the back two doors do not work. I have a window lock button on the driver door, but it doesn't make any difference weather I push it in , or leave it in the out position. I assume that if it is in the out position, the windows should operate with the control at each door. As I said above, the passenger door and the two back doors do not operate from the control on each door. If I use the controls at the driver door, I can operate all the door windows except the left rear. Sometimes it will work, but most of the time it will not operate. I have checked the one single fuse that I know about, it is OK. Need suggestions please, Mike

Mike - Sounds like a bad local switch at the individual door itself. Take the door panel off and use a test lamp to see if each switch is ok.

Update- nothing works today, even at the driver door controls. Question-I will check the fuse again, but could the fuse have been starting to die and was only letting so much power through, and has now died completely ?

No such thing as an intermittent fuse....it's either good or it's blown.
An automotive circuit breaker is different....it will break contact, then reset itself after it cools down. I don't know if the Durango has a fuse or a circuit breaker for this system, but you should check that out, too.

Since you now have the problem on all 4 doors, I agree it's very unlikely the switch is bad at each door. I'm guessing a bad connection or loose ground in a common wire somewhere. Can be a tough task to find. You'll need a 12v test light and a lot of patience.

I removed the door panel today, and then I removed the power window module from the door panel so I could try it.
When I plugged it back into the harness, everything worked, even the individual windows at each door ???? Looks like you were correct about a connection problem Dave, many thanks Mike

Good to hear you solved it, Mike!
One last recommendation: before you button things up, smear some 'bulb grease' on the electrical connections to prevent deterioration in the future due to moisture, etc.
