2000 egr location

Could anyone tell me where the egr valve is located on a 2000 neon? I've got rough idle when at stop signs and also when pressing fairly hard on the accelerator. (mostly when passing other cars) I think the egr is the problem, but just cannot locate it. I've looked on the drivers side of the engine, but there's nothing there that looks like it, and I also cannot locate any metal tube that is going into the intake manifold. I've found a plastic one, but no metal. Thanks in advance for any and all replies.
