96 PA. Started the car up this morning (3am), drove about 15 miles and my SE light came on. My question is, can I perform the old paper clip scan to pull the code off of this PA ? If I can, could someone refresh my memory on how exactly to do this ?
thanks

I am not sure if you can jumper the last two terminals (A & B) like I can on my 91 PA. You may need a Tech 1. Anyway, find the ALDL plug under the driver side dash and jumper the two together. Turn on the key (but do not start the car). If it works you will see code "12" flash three times and then the new trouble codes will flash. For a list of the trouble codes see http://www.iequus.com/assets/manuals/gmcre.pdf

DO NOT USE A PAPER CLIP ON THIS VEHICLE!
Unless you want to see some funky things happen with your body control module and related components.
You need a code reader, this car is an OBDII, no flash codes. Even 94 -96 madels with the OBD variants do not flash test.
