Looking to Replace engine on a 97 FBD, suggestions needed.

Okay, im currently running a stock 97 firebird v6 with 75,000 miles on it.
More power is wanted. Wanting to upgrade to a bigger v8 engine without the exspensive converging process. What affordable(under 3 grand) engines do you suggest and is there any way to get around converging the computer systems to save money. Car will need to pass state inspection.

you cant do the swap without changing the computer and wiring harness... do you plan on doing the swap yourself or having a shop do it? becasue honestly, the process is a hastle, i have now done 3 swaps on the 93 and up camaros, going from a 3.4/3.8 to a Lt1 or Ls1... there are alot of other threads throughout this area of the forum about this swap being done, look through those and find out what you can... see if those help you out any, then if you are still serious about the swap then send me a PM and i will try to help you out the best i can... take it easy and good luck...
