speedometer

just wanted to know if i can use an Eclipse GSX Turbo Speedometer instrument cluster in a non-turbo Eclipse GS...... it looks like it fits, but i don't know if it will work in it...
my own speedometer is broken and its not counting mileage...so i need to get one that works...

Yes, they are the same in size and fitment. Although, you will have two unused gauges:boost, oil pressure. I guess if you turbo your car you can get the senders and hook them up if you wanted too. Might I ask why you want to swap? your other one break? I would just get another gs cluster :2cents:

yes mines broken.... hard to find someone that sellings for cheap price...but found someone that has one with the Turbo... as long as it will work on mine, i'll be happy...

also afterwards my automatic transmission won't shift gears...stuck on 1st gear, limited 35mph driving...dang...
someone told me that some cars require speedometer to tell the engine computer the speed, and than the computer tells the transmission when to shift gears.... IS this correct??? so thats why my car is stuck on 1st gear or do you think its something else??

i wish someone here would take there speedometer out and see if thats true... but i'll know for sure when i put one in my car that works...

It doesn't have to be turbo to have an oil pressure gauge, all 1g's Turbo or not have them and I'm pretty sure same goes for 2g's.

The 2nd generation rs and gs do not.

have you checked the connector on the back of yours?? there are 3 plugs for the gauge cluster. maybe one of them came off and it killed the speedometer and mileage counter. i'd check out the old one before buying a different one.

if you get a different one from a turbo, it wll work but you'll have a dead boost gauge and a dead oil pressure gauge. you could hook up the oil pressure gauge but it'd be more trouble than it's worth, IMO.

yea i pulled the whole cluster out and put it back in (a few times), still don't work... it doesn't matter to me if the extra stuff works or not, its just extras... right now i just want to know how fast i'm going and my transmission to change gears... driving in 1st gear only, sucks!!

mines don't light up, so i figure the sensors on my tranny is working...

i have to agree i doubt its the actual guage cluster its probly a sensor, but i dont know why the 1st gear would have anything to do with the actuall speedometer, ive been driving my manual around without the speedo for like 6 months now, i have to say your probly missing a sensor in your tranny.

well i got the Turbo gauge cluster, i put it in my eclipse 95 gs automatic non-turbo, all the gauges work except the Turbo gauge, oil pressure gauge works...
but dang you guys were right my cluster instrument is most likely working fine...cause with the turbo gauge cluster i put in, same thing happens, my speedometer and odometer still isn't working properly (moves up sometimes but always drops back to zero)...
i thought i was stuck in 1st gear, but its actually in 2nd gear(limp mode)..
you guys say its prolly my sensors, right now i think its that also, but a mechanic told me if its the sensors than my engine light/service soon light will light up... but mine doesn't light up... so not sure whats wrong... what you guys think??

i'm not sure where they came from. I've seen a couple pairs on e-bay before. that might be your best bet. otherwise just google "Taylor Plug Wires" or something and see what you come up with.
