Alternator help!! 96 SE maxima

I just had my Alternator rebuilt on my 96 se maxima and both my brake and battery light are on. I put a volt meter on it and it's putting out 15.4 volts. Since that I took it back to the shop and had the guy test it and look it over again. At his shop it puts out 14.4 volts. Then I re-intalled it in the car and it puts out 15.v volts. He says I have a bad wire that tells the Alternator when to charge. Can anyone shed some light on this deal. I really like to fix the problem and I don't want to take the Alternator back out.

- compare your gauge with a known good multimeter
- I think your alt is bad... return it and go someplace else. Reman alts fail all too often... still:
- any ten yr old car needs connectors cleanup; check the alt circuit from FSM; see manual LINKS, bottom of page: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/748507/1
- alt grounding is crirical, see gnd info on page 10; connectors PM on page 14.

I don't thinks it's the alternator because this is the 3rd one now within 10000 miles. Something is causing it to call for a charge.

1. Bad gnd burns the reg, ruins batt. Ol car needs extra gnd wire.
2. Reman alt's are like that.
