Problems starting my 92 Metro ...

For about a week now i was trying to figure out what the problem is and i still can't that's why am urning to you guys to help me out :).

The engine will turn and run fine untill it warms up. Then it will start but studder ... and die ... and then nothing not even a breath.

The engine will turn ut will not start.

Any idea what it might be ?

My first suggestion would be a tune up procedure, if not done recently. Change your fuel and air filters, new plugs (maybe plug wires and rotor cap, too, if they're in rough shape). Also, spray the throttle body with some carb / fuel injector cleaner while the engine's running (give it some gas while doing this or it'll flood right out on you). Maybe put a can of fuel system cleaner in the tank while you're at it. It might be something as simple as a plugged fuel filter or bad plugs. Hopefully, anyway.

make sure you are not touching the gas pedal when you try and start it. especially when it is warm.

I have had several Geos that have a tendancy to flood themselves.

I remove the electrical wire to the injector, pull my plugs, disconnect my coil wire and roll it over until I flush most of the gas out. Sometimes it can be alot!!!

Put it all back together then start it without touching the gas pedal.

I found out on my sons car that the idle was set waaaay to low. That combined with an old engine seemed to make it wet foul easily. I turned the idle up and we have not had a problem since.
