Head gasket question

I've got a friend who has a 95 Firebird V8 of course. And he blew the head gasket. He opened the hood and I about ran out of there. I don't see how anyone could even attempt to work on one of these with the limited clearance you have.
How hard of a job is this? I have changed plenty of head gaskets but never with this kind of cramped space. Whats involved? Is this a weekend in the garage type job or is this a take it to the shop type job.
Thanks in advance.

Its a pain in the ass but completely doable. You need to remove the intake manifold, exhaust manifold, water pump cooling line that runs in the rear (thats a bitch)of the engine. On the passenger side you need to remove accessorys and bracket from the engine. Good Luck. I wouldn't want to do one again.
