Vortec intake

Being that I have ZERO experience with the mid 90's Impala SS, late model F-body, and I have only SEEN the LT-1, I was just wondering how similar the intake on the 5.3L Vortec is to the LT-1's intake?

From what I have read, they will fit on our trucks. However, you would not see a performance gain, but a decrease. Reason being: That the LT1s do not flow as well as our intakes. The intakes on our trucks have plenty of room to flow the air better. While the camaros/vettes had to be restricted in size/flow for space. Now this is just what I have read, I do not know if this is a 100% true unfortunately I do not remember the site where I got the information from to link it here. If I come back across, I will let you know.

That's what they get for sticking the damn engine up under the dashboard...

I didnt think LT-1's would fit our trucks. I know LS1/LS6 do but they arent the same as the LT-1's. If you meant the LS1/LS6 manifold then yes there is a considerable gain from the switch but not noticeable until you hit higher RPM's

They're all SBC's; the only difference in physical size should be the intake

I know theyre All SBC's but that doesnt matter. A mustang is a SBc but its intake doesnt fit. Hell anything under a 408 CI engine is a Short block. What matters are the heads. I think the LT's use a different style head and the runners wont match up.

SBC = Small Block Chevy. The Ford is an all together different engine. A short block is an engine with no intake or heads on it; just a block. A long block is the short block with the heads on it. However, you are right that the heads are probably different on the LT1 or LS1

10-4. You are definatly right about the SBC part sorry for the mix up. But the short block and long block have to do with the length of the crank and main journals! I'll double check the LT1 thing though but I thought the heads were diff. I could be wrong though if you've heard otherwise

Hey Im looking in car craft right now and the heads are different. The intake runners on the LT are somthing like this 1--2-3--4 and the LS1/LS6/LM7-Q9 are 1-2-3-4
