I am in the process of rebuilding the engine in my 1968 AMX, the engine is a 390, I would like to know if anybody would happen to know what part number the engine paint would be, either in Plasticote or another paint manufacture.
Any help would be appreciated.

I went through this a few years back when I rebuilt my engine. There aren't any of the major paint manufacturers (Plasticote, DupliColor, etc) that make "AMC Blue" engine paint anymore. You might be able to find some old NOS cans in the back of a warehouse somewhere.

However, if you can find an auto supply store that mixes paint, there is an AMC color called "Alamosa Aqua" which is essentially "AMC Blue". I had a quart mixed up years back and it worked out great. It should be listed in the early 1970's section of the DuPont Centari paint chip book.

Hi, The paint color for the AMC engines made in the lates 60's early 70's is called AMC BLUE POLY. The part number is EN-66, and is made by Seymore Paint, in Illinois, but should be available from a good paint distributor. I got mine from Summit Paints, in Cleveland Ohio. The EN-66 paint is only available in packs of 6 cans. I got 2 packs of it from them about 2 years ago for $33 dollars, shipped! Please don't buy any paint off those theives on ebay that sell a can of AMC Blue Poly for $10 or more a can. Summit Paint has a website, the web address is, if I recall right is www.summitpaint.com . Check them out, don't get gouged by some of those AMC parts hustlers!!!!!!! Kem
