Let me first say that disability kicks ass! Last weekend I put my hand through a window and had to get some stitches so I couldn't work this whole week. I used today to go to Downtown LA and take some pictures of the city. Hope you enjoy them, there's a lot...

I started the day by cruising up to Palos Verde and took some shots of the city from a distance:

http://img118.echo.cx/img118/5769/start1.th.jpg (http://img118.echo.cx/my.php?image=start1.jpg)
http://img252.echo.cx/img252/1153/DTpalo.th.jpg (http://img252.echo.cx/my.php?image=DTpalo.jpg)

Then I made my way to a local park which had a nice view of the city:

Hollywood:

Trying my hand at a panoramic:

Here's some up-close and personal shots of the city:

That Disney Concert Hall looks broken!

Awesome pics - very nice clarity - especially with the skyscraper shots :)

Is the Gas Company Tower the building from Die Hard? It's hard to see at that angle.

No, the Die Hard building is actually located west of Los Angeles in Century City. I believe the building is called Fox Plaza.

it's so crazy how downtown LA is soo small compared to the downtown of other big cities...or so it seems. well, i guess the business district.

Actually LA does pretty well in the world ranking of skylines. #21 in the top 100 in the world and that's not including Century City. ;)

Just do one of Wellington too! Someone in NZ has to be a better photographer than Dave. :p

LOL! I probably will do one of Wellington, but there's few decent Skyscrapers though, only the Majestic Center, State Insurance tower and HSBC tower.

Auckland has a pretty good selection and there'll be more if the economy holds up. None as awesome looking as the Library tower though, I still remember seeing it in person, it's HUGE!

I've been twice, once in 1998 and the other time in 2002, did the full guided tour in '02.

I'm hopefully going over either next year or '07, depends on when I graduate :D

I would bring Dave, but it'd be like bringing an 85 year old lady with me, so I'll resist the temptation :p
