ok ok this is going on to long maybe if you dont know the 2005 mustang are going to be rated at 400 hp or more and are going to rival the mighty z06. i got a gsr i think i am good for import i am pretty sure i can bet some stangs but not all.
But come on guys the new stangs are starting to rival the z06 now someone say they can smoke a z06.

we're talking about the V6 versions...not the higher-end ones. of course those will stomp a gsr...com'n now :iceslolan

an hmong, never said it was fast, 14.8 is slow too, but...not as slow as those V6 stangs w/ i/h/e :bigthumb:

i'm talking about the 94-98 (should have said that in original post)

the new ones...i doubt it. it'd be close, but it wouldn't beat it by much more then a tenth or two.

94-98 sucked , a 99+ v6 with I/h/e would beat a stock GSR.

so what does a 1998 v6 mustang run I was going to race one then could not think of its specs I know the 94 to 96 I think run 17.6 or something like that but could not think what the 98s ran

chris26969
06-25-2003, 11:49 PM
94-98 run the same engine.

I have a 2003 V6 Stang and I ran an Audi A4. hate to tell you but I beat him off the line and just kept going, when we finished he was 4 car lengths behind.

Now the A6 is a diff story havent run 1 but would love to just to see.

so they all run low/mid 17s stock

I got that from car-stats.com

they said my car ran 16.7 and I ran 17.01 so not to far off

plus I am not a pro and also it was like 80 90 or 100 at the track that.

and I live in Kansas

chris26969

lol i dunno you might be able to beat a 94-98 mustang Auto . Whats type tranny you have?

spectorv
06-26-2003, 01:05 PM
a pre 99 with heads, intakes ported, cam shaft, and exhaust (whom my friend has and runs at the local track) manages a 14.5-14.3 ET He also has a pulley on it.

A 99 up with PP intakes, cam shaft, head work and exhaust with pulley and CAI will put out 260~hp and 250tq~ (engine) 1400 buck investment also. good for LOW 14s.

So far the fastest NA mustang is a 00 v6 (i belive maybe 99) with the above mods and lower control arms and some DRs ran a 13.9 with a crappy 2.1 60ft. he has video and slips to prove it.

nice nice , im an import owner with a love for the ol Mustang. I wonder if my car would beatt a 00v6. I havnt took my car out to its potential yet. ( 98 Mitsu Eclipse GSX , Full exaust , Intercooler , ram air etc. ) .

If your GSX is in good shape it should blow the doors off any stock mustang, V6 or GT. Get a boost controller and you'll be running 14.0 or possibly lower.

heh, no it's just a pic I found off the internet. I have a black civic hatchback with a type r engine. I don't know why, but ever since the server went down my type of car doesn't show up under my name to the left, but all the info is filled out in my profile.

While I was in training for the army a buddy of mine had a GSX. That thing was so f'in fast and it only had the stock turbo on it, boost controller, greddy exhaust, lowered 2" and a few other meaningless things. Get a boost controller and boost guage, I think on stock internals you can push about 20-22 psi? Don't quote me on that, but I know you won't regret getting a bc.

chris26969
06-26-2003, 02:33 PM
yea im having the same problem with the whole filling out what kind of car i have.

How much do you think those parts will run me, because i just insured this thing and my wallet is crying...3,200 A YEAR.

Wow , type R engine in there. Nice. What do you run in the 1/4 mile , How much HP do you think you put out?

Ricochet
06-26-2003, 02:41 PM
A good boost controller is $200-$300, all you do is turn a couple knobs and whammo, more boost. The guage is about $40, and for an A-pillar bracket you'll spend $20 or so, unless you can get creative and drill a hole in your dash or something.

I dont think is possible to go below zero...but i may be wrong.

if by blow the doors off (14.0) a 99 up gt you mean running dead even, then good job.

I have mad respect for a Mustang GT , i might be able to keep up with it in the GSX. It would be close.

stock gsx vs 99-up GT= the gsx getting romped. don't get me wrong, i have mucho respect for the dsm's (damned nice project cars), but stock, they're high 14's compared to the low 14's of the gt. its really only a close race if the gt driver CAN'T drive.

chris26969
06-28-2003, 09:31 AM
i believe every word you say , I didnt buy the car to expect to beat GTs. Just glad i can give it a run for its money.

Sorry for not specifying, but on the street the GSX will blow the doors off a V6 or GT because usually street races don't last a quarter mile. The AWD GSX will take it by 4-5 car lengths from the launch and that length will slowwwly get smaller. Most street races don't last up to 100mph...

i agree it'd be more in favor of the gsx on the street, but still think of this. each turn out AROUND 2.0 60's. so really, its gonna be a lot closer at the beginning then u think w/ the stang eventually pulling.

the streets are unpredictable tho...a bad shift, a bad launch, bad tank of gas, engine running off a bit, any of those could lead to the stang losing...

Well I don't think you can get this one. My 95 v6 mustang runs a 15.2 1/4 mile after a Mac fender well cold air intake and a 70mm BBK throttle body. I'am not sure but if it's stock I still think it runs in the low 16s. If stock should be a good one let me know how it turns out.

dude your a typical ricer. theres NO WAY in hell that a GSX stock would take a 99+GT with a decent driver. NO WAY. your only lying to yourself. i raced my friends GSX and he raped me off the line but i was catching him by the end of the 1/4 mile. and i drive a V6 mustang with intake and exhaust. :thefinger plus thats a top of the line eclipse running just faster than a base model mustang:iceslolan. and they did drive a BONE stock 99 V6 with only the spare tire removed to a 14.9 in MM&FF a few months ago. so V6 mustangs are the slow pieces of shit everyone thinks. they aren't fast by any means but they certainly arent slow.

I got a 95 V6 mustang auto, and I am betting I wouldnt hit a HIGH 17. im sure the 5 speed is quicker and the 97 at least even the auto is quicker my friends mom had the 97 auto and they have 195 HPand it turns out mine only has like 140, read that somewhere and didnt believe it til i drove hers, lot faster. but anyways I droove a 95 talon TSI AWD once(GSX) and it would have STOMPED either of the V6 stangs I have driven

i think that a gsr will kick any mustangs ass (except cobra) as long as you slap on a cold air intake and a exaust and you will decimate all!!!!!

i dig on integras, but a gsr over any mustang except cobra is a very bold statement. are you considering the classics, like the boss 429, the mach 1s, the shelbys, roushs, saleens? The gsr is a hell of a fun car to drive.... but i am afraid your claim is optomisic.

I apologize for adding to this horrible thread. Please do not think any less of me, I added to it only after reading what was written above me, this thread is so worn and so tired, I do not wish to make it any longer. All cars are fun to drive, even if they are shitty - (in which case they are fun to drive becuase they are shitty.)

Damn! Who's smart idea was this to move this thread into Street Racing?

As for Mustang speed, here's an eyewitness report:

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t120279.html

That same night, a mildly-modded RSX ran a 14.7, while an Integra ran a low 15 against a 90-92 GT's 16.1.

But whatever, everybody buys what they buy for different reasons, some smarter than others.

Quit the bickering.

That wouldn't surprise a lot of people, even or especially in here. If it went the other way around, the Integra driver would've been flamed a bit by Ford loyalists.

Anyhow, you're right, this thread is volatile, so I'm closing it.
