Ava 18 ordered. Chad is a really kool guy. we had a lil conversation about all the BS about chad just using that statement by DW to get some sales in between exchaning creditcard information. i can understand exactly where both DW and Chad are coming from.

but i couldnt get into the current stock so i have to wait untill the 2nd-last week of june for my Ava 18 to ship because of the dust caps. after their current stock with out dust caps is gone the Ava and Atlas will no longer Be XBL drivers. i forgot to ask chad what this new tech was, or at least tease me. oh well. i will be calling him after school gets out about an enclosure. im thinking 6.5cuft tuned to 28Hz 90sqin of port area.

well w/e just though id let you know

my dad was totaly cool with it because it was a jump down from $460 to $302 :lol2:

anybody looking for a totaly sweet driver at an ABSOLUTELY unbeatable price...call ascenadant asap before their stock w/o dust caps runs out.

No, but I can say ecstatic, or www.dictionary.com.

And another thing... Who the hell would want a driver w/o a dust cap? If the pole is vented through the back plate, then there's nothing to maintain pressure behind the cone. :screwy:

hes gettin a dustcap, ugh. Anyways good shit diggity dog. But with that driver, definetly tune lower.

CBFryman
05-06-2005, 05:26 PM
how low do you think? with 28Hz i get an F3 (acourdint to gay assed win ISD) in the low 20Hz. i can go too much lower or else the port will take up too much space.

CBFryman
05-06-2005, 05:28 PM
what i ment by the stock w/o dust caps is, once the drivers that are sitting at ascendant that dont have dust caps yet are sold out, prices will probably change and ascendant will no longer use XBL. so its sort of like having a peace of audio history.

with an Fs that low, 25hz would sound AWESOME.

Anything below 28hz in-car is absolutely useless, period.

Also, looks like you gave in...see you didn't even know they were cheap till you saw me talking ;)

Anyways, I'm contemplating TWO Custom Avalanche 15's ;) Talked to Chad, prolly make mine a little special if I decide to go with them. :)

funny shit today.

we where coming back from walmart, the best place to get a mothers day present, and i decided to stop at Audiowaves, the same place that said 4 w1v2's and a 500/1 hit 157.1 on the dash of an extended cab pick up... and i walked in and the convorsation went like this...

Me: hi, im have an Ascendant Audio Avalanche 18 comming in some time in late june. im just looking around at some amps. Have you heard of ascendant audio?

Him: No, where did you get it?

Me: I called them, they are an all internet and local sales brand at the moment. Their perfomrance is sapposed to be close to the tripple x by RE.

Him: Triple X? RE?

Me: Never mind

Him: ::smirk::

Me: so anyway it is dual 2ohm around 800w RMS so im looking at somthing that does a true 1000w RMS into 1ohm.

Him: What do you mean by true?

Me: well i want it to do 1000w at a true 1ohm nominal load but i would also like osme over head or have an amp that automativally accounts for impeadence rise.

Him: ::Dum founded:: well what price range are you looking at?

Me: well what ever you can get me that is cheapest, but also does rated power.

Him: ::walks to amp display on wall:: we just got this in it is Pioneer peremeirs new SPL amp. these things are rock solid, they people that where compeating wiht them blah blah blah japanies guy blah blah blah. its sapposed to be a good amp.

Me: well it looks kinda small ill have to talk to some people who have experence with it. how much is it

Him: ::goes and looks it up:: $675 installed.

Me: what about not installed, i am a competent installer, it isnt that hard.

Him: $600

Me: well im just looking for now, thanks, however.

Him talking to other employee: ::quietly:: Ascendant audio, what is that cap, that amp is only rated to 500w RMS, but it'll blow that garbage like its nothing...kids these days

Me: ::waves bye like i didnt hear it::

as i walk out the door "we will see about that 'garbage', 157.1 my ass"

Hehehe, when I walk into shops I don't say A WORD about what brand I'm packing until AFTER they hear it and they're amazed. After I blow EVERYTHING they could ever dream of away...and THEN they ask what it is...then i'll tell them ;)

Oh, and...I got you a second one...

here is the amp he was telling me does 1000w@1ohm

it isnt even one ohm stable. but it dose do 500w...at 4ohm...so i beleive it would blw before my Ava would...

Dice, if that amp your refering to is the HA1000, It only does 480rms, and It isn't 1ohm stable....But im not sure if that is the one you are talking about....

I was talking about the Ap1000m (https://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/2552)... and on second inspection it only does 500 watts at 2 Ohms for $99. Darn advertising...

RMS = xxxx
MAX = 2*xxxx
RMS = blah blah blah

Sorry CB :p

Although this Hifonics TX1005D (https://www.ikesound.com/product-product_id/2858) is 1 ohm stable and 1000 watts... only 200 too, not bad IMO.

We'll see how my DEI sounds... it was the cheapest 5 channel I found that has everything I want. If it doesn't sound good, I'll just sell it again on ebay for twice what I got it for, and buy something better. :p

BWAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! LMFAO....

But yeah, it's stupid to get two amps...one on each coil. You must EXACTLY match the gains...and in all honesty the only tiem it would be benficial would be on say...and SPL sub (like my dual .7ohm 15DP) and an amp on each coil...for mass power for burps. But yeah...get a mono amp...or one that does needed power @4ohms bridged. (Profile CL1200...like $150 shipped...900rms @4ohm...just another cheap suggestion.)

Are you on crack or just stupid? To run 2 different amps on one small 18" sub is rediculous. The reason I state that is that none of the amps you guys tout can be linked together. You'd need an amp that can be externally bridged together. Yes, here I will tout DEI http://directed.com/audio/amps/default.asp

Then again, unless you are running something extremely huge or multiple subs, doing this is very expensive. Besides, you'd look like a knob hooking 2 amps to a small 18" sub. Oh, no you can't just take any 2 amps that match and hook one to each voice coil. You'll run too much of a chance of screwing up the motor structure in the sub if the amps are exactly equal in what they are producing.

Diceman83
05-08-2005, 08:26 PM
As much as people hate DEI here, they do have some pretty nice features... my yet-to-arrive 1100d5 for example can have a 600d strapped to it to give 1200 watts at 1 ohm on the sub, plus the 75x4 on the other channels. As long as it sounds good when it gets here, I'll probably be happy for a while. Sound about right Ponchonaut?

ps... in that link you gave, I find it amusing that their image file with the word "amplifier" is half cut off. (at least it is viewing with Opera & Firefox.)

"Small"....too bad it will spank anything DEI makes, oh ya, and even if i ran 200w to one coil and 400w to the other THE MOTOR STRUCTURE COULDNT BE SCREWED UP. along with the fact it would be 2 amps OF THE SAME MODLE. but anyway, one coil former, not two. As for matching the gains, you really cant match them perfectly. but you can get damn close with just a multimeter and half a brain. If anyone is on crack it is you. You think you know so much when you dont...Some gay installer certification and being a DEI dealer doesnt make you a knowledge god "Two different amps, one on each coil, will fuck up the motor structure, ya know because if only one coil is doing most of the work it pulls the coil to one side." too bad the atals has 2 coils and 1 is NEVER ran except in the special instance it is ran as a 6ohm driver with a 400w RMS power handleing.

but anyway, it was just another option....

So, now that i have that off of m chest.

nsgm, does that profile do rated power?

CBFryman
05-08-2005, 09:09 PM
correction, 6ohm still 300RMS

ngsm13
05-08-2005, 09:20 PM
nsgm, does that profile do rated power?

The profile CL1200 does rated rms power...

300 x 2 rms @4ohms
450 x 2 rms @2ohms
900 x 1 rms @4ohm bridged

Solid amp, friend has owned one for bout 1.5 years...no problems at all. It's large tho...length wise...

NG

CBFryman

that wont be a problem about length. so you think it is a better choice for the Avalanche over the BX1500?

Over the new line...definitely not. But last year's BX1500 vs. the CL1200...I'd only pick the Profile if I was really tight on money. I'd also look into the new --05 Hifonics line...basically rated power amps now ;)

Koolness, will do. well first i have to get the idle problem fixed, agian. im just going to replace all the major vacume lines this time. and then make sure i have enough cash in the bank for insurance and gas. Maybe i can get a security system and an amp for my B-Day since the Ava should be here right about that time. I need to get to work on an enclosure plan.

Well, the avalanche doesn't need that much...and if you can't work out something in 6 cubes with 90 in^2 of port...then you need to get more talent in designing ;) (I can whip one up with cut-sheet in about 10-15mins ;) )

I can do it, but im trying to make it look like i want it to. I have room for 10cuft gross. But id like to mount my Sub's amp on one side and my Mid/High amp on the other and have it meed the bottom of my rear windsheild. Id also like it to conform to the lip where the jump seats are, but the jump seats will be removed.
