Hi, i have a problem, seems similar to other posts, with not starting good, takes at least 5-15 seconds cranking to start, then smokes for 5 seconds, when it runs i have to basically floor it to have any power, if i dont it will bog down especially after changing gears, i see other talking about fuel problems possibly, but when i floor it it goes! i have noticed a problem, when i got it i changed the cap and rotor, cap leads on inside looked half gone, corroded bad, after i changed it it ran great for 2-3 days, been 2 weeks now, i checked cap and the leads already are getting corroded again.. guy at auto store said might be the coil sending to much power, i'm gonna go try that, just curious if anyone else had any similar problems or answers to what the problem is, thank you!

Depends on just what build up u see. Some of the build up is okay. Coil to much power , Nope. when a coil is made it depends on the number of coil they make to made spark. A coil gets it's charge from the battery voltage and the length of time module allows to build up charge. There are so many others things to consider. The coolant sensor, map sensor, TPS, Fuel pressure, etc.

interesting, when i changed the spark plugs a couple weeks ago i did notice the coolant sensor wasn't hooked up, lead was broken but didnt think anything of it, guess i'll start there, thanks!

With that disconnected you should be getting a SES light. Are you???

the service engine light has only come on 2 times in the last month, only for a couple of minutes each time, noticed 1 more thing tonight, 2 hoses from the large emissions canister? next to battery and broken or missing and cant see where the hose should go cuz there's no hose there! and i fixed coolant lead, cleaned cap again, still running rough, bet it's maybe the hoses? but my other van was rigged by my dad long time ago and that has no problems like this..

If the hoses are missing off the purge canister, you've got a vacuum leak.

check the Ignition Module's connectors, specially the ones connected in the module's back, towards the pick up coil, for sure you will find them very very corroded and the module's ground connectors screws, for sure you will find them very corroded, if so, clean terminals or replace the ignition control module, (costc $44.50 in pep boys) The reason of the moisture inside the distributor is the temperature deference durin winter time.

when it runs i have to basically floor it to have any power, if i dont it will bog down especially after changing gears,
My '92 just started doing the same thing. Got about 167k on it.
My first thought was a bad tank of gas or plugged fuel filter.
But Today I noticed the digital dash was showing MPH when I was revving the engine... IN PARK !!
It was Zero mph at idle, then when I revved the engine the mph
would climb to 5, 6, 7, 8 mph. Then back to Zero when I let off.
Keep in mind, I was in park. Not in gear with my foot on the brake.
I don't know anything about transmissions, but is there a possiblilty
that it could just be an adjustment to fix the problem?
The van starts okay, but really bogs down when I try to accelerate.
It hasn't died at any stoplights yet. Any thoughts?

Well on the speedo I wouldn't worry. Most likely electrical interference of some sort causes this. The alterntor causes and magnitic field when it is working. If you would like to see it work put a compass on dash, rev up engine and watch it move too.
