idle issue

my 86 prelude si is idling funny..it will jump up to 2 and go back down..some one said i am going to need a new throttle body

If it constantly goes up and down even after its warmed up....its either the iac (idle air control) valve...or the fast idle thermo valve.

you dont need a new throttle body, and most likely its not your iac, if its jumping like that it probly means your iac is working, sounds like a coolant problem, check your coolant levels, most likely it is an air pocket in you cooling system, i had the same prob with my car and i have seen the same in the older ludes as well, all have been coolant problems

i have an idle surge problem as well but mines a sensir ontop of the throttle body.

make sure there is no leaks in the intake, and if you have an aftermarket one make sure the vacuum valve on the bottom is either used or patched that was causing me to idle at about 1200 rpms and now im idling at about 900 when warmed up
