What weight and GL-? is in the diffs and (Push-button) Transfer Case in a '04 Tacoma DC V6 4WD? What is the recommended fluid and change interval?

Thanks lots of info there. Do you guys recomend GL-4 or GL-5 for teh transfer case. I know some manual tranny's can't have GL_5 casue it attacks soft metals!! Is there any thing like a syncro in the push-button '04 Transfer case mated to the AT?? For someone who does not tow or go off roading GL-5 75W-90 syn. gear lube in both front and rear right. A '04 DC Taco with the V6 and automatic does not have a limited slip rear end right??

Never seen one, but I would bet alot the answer is yes. Protecting the differential is one of the functions of the skid plate.
As far as what gear lube to use in the transfer case, go with what AMSOIL recommends (either one: GL-4 or GL-5).

I am guessing that all Double Cabs are "Ex Long WB"? Also what is with/with out Cs??

I don't know off-hand (locking differential?), but you really don't need to know. Just fill it until the gear lube runs out the fill hole and cap it up.

Technically Toyota recommends only filling to about ~10mm below the fill hole but I always fill until it overflows. If the diffs are overfilled they will just puke the excess out of the breather anyway. Good info Brian! :)
FWIW I run Redline GL-5 90wt in my diffs and x-fer case as well as manual trans.
Also FWIW API stands for the Automotive Petroleum Institute.

Toyota specifies that the transfer case and differentials in my truck are to be filled within 5 mm of the bottom of the fill hole.

You have to take off both skid plates underneath in order to access the front diff. You'll need a 10mm hex bit for the front diff, and a 24mm socket for the center diff and rear axle. Here's a link with some pictures, also:

I just finished replacing all these fluids on my '03 DC 4x4 with Mobil 1 75W-90 synthetic gear lube; easy enough job but a little messy. About 22K miles on mine, the front and center fluid was fairly clean when it came out; I was quite surprised at how nasty the rear fluid looked. Glad I changed it.

I highly recommend using a 6-sided 24mm socket as a 12-sided will tend to round the head of the drain plug. I bought a Snap-On 24mm just for this. I also ground the face of it completely flat to get a better purchase on the shallow head of the drain plug. Almost every used Toyota I've bought had stripped drain plug heads. I once spent about half a day dremeling the drain plug heads down to a smaller size on one particular truck of ours becasue some toolbox jacked them up so bad.
The reason you rear diff fluid was so bad is because the gears went through their break-in period and since the rear is always engaged it has the most run time on it.
